OK, I'm finally trying to fix the lock on the stepper door on my Coleman Utah. Several previous threads have advised that you need to drill out the rivets along the edge of the door in order to get to the lock.

That raises the next question. How do you drill out the rivets? (Please pardon my total ignorance.) I found some info online that said to use a drill bit that is slightly larger than the hole in the rivet. I'm assuming you don't want to use too large a bit because you don't want to enlarge the hole in the door.

The bit that's slightly larger than the hole in the rivet is a 1/8" bit. Since someone else on here said to use 3/16" rivets to put the door back together, 1/8" sounded about right since it should be smaller than the original hole.

I drilled through a couple of the rivets, the bit went through into open space, but the rivet is still in place! How do you get it out??? Help!

After drilling out the center of the rivet, it should collapse on it self if you use a nail or punch to drive it out. Make sure the head (mushroom shaped part on the outside) is completly off. Use of a pliers or needle nose pliers can help pop the head off after the rivet is drilled.
Good Luck!:)
