Working this weekend, anyone camping ? Went camping Labor Day weekend in 1970 and left on a thursday. Tropical storm Norma caused extensive rain and flooding in Central Arizona. Around two dozen were killed.  We were heading out to Roosevelt Lake and observed a large rattlesnake in a wash called Burnt Corral Wash. We parked and went back to the wash and it was flooded. Several people were killed downstream at the campground. We camped at School House Point. Rained so hard we were stuck in camp. I turned the small aluminum boat upside down on a concrete slab and "camped" underneath the boat. We were stuck until the following wednesday.

It always seems to rain at least one day over Labor Day weekend. Got a good downpour here last night. (tri-state area of Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana)
Between the rain and the crowds, we have quit camping on the holiday weekends. Scheduled for a short trip next weekend, and I bet the campground is half empty.

I had a beautiful  Labor Day weekend trip.  Went Thursday to Monday.  In the upper 70s during the day and 50's to 60's at night.  Sunny days, quiet campground, and a good friend to camp with.  My Dalmation even came and paid me a visit.  There was a light mist this morning.  It barely wet the ground.:D

we went to Medford Oregon for our Labor Day Weekend.  We fished the heck out of the Rogue River.  Got 6 fish (but the 2 inch sucker doesn't really count for me, does it?)  Great campfire last night with the best steaks of the 09 camping season yet.  Beautiful weekend.  A little rain Saturday, but we spent it napping in the camper.  Well, I was napping, the Mrs. was chatting with her parents.  We met a really nice clerk at the "Pharmacy" where they sold guns and fishing licenses. "guns and drugs" is the logo on the fishing license holder. . . . .  Anyway, Love the 03 Coleman Carmel.  Best purchase ever.

2009: 30 nights of camping; 2 trips still left on the calendar.  I don't want to put the camper away, but the time's a coming. . . . . . .

We went camping this weekend at Fulton County Conservation.  Had a great peaceful weekend.  Rained a few times but not enough to mess with our fun.  Just sat under the awning and watched the rain.  Was afraid of crowds and people having too much fun, but not the case.  Easy to go back to work after such a relaxing trip with family and great friends.

We went to Hill's Family Campground right by Presque Isle, PA. Had some problems with the pup, the campground was packed full (only one vacant spot), and our neighbors had a 23 month old boy with iron lungs but we still had a great time together before summer officially ended and the kids start school. Got a little shower early Monday morning but it was dry by the time we woke up. Would like to plan one more trip before parkin the camper till next season but it doesn't look good. :(    Oh well- there's always next year!

We went for a 4 day trip to the Eastern Sierras.  Weather was gorgeous.  Low 70's during the day and low 40's at night.  A far cry from the 100's that we have had in Sacramento.

Fishing wasn't very good but I just love this area so I am happy to just sit in my chair watching the creek go by next to my campsite.

Only bad part was that it took us 2 hours to drive thru Lake Tahoe to get home.  Why the road is only 2 lanes is beyond me. :eyecrazy:  especially when half the state is there for the holiday weekend.

We're Sacto people too; Land Park to be more specific.  Where abouts did you head this weekend?  What kind of fishing do you partake in?  We've not done much past Tahoe yet, but are always looking for good options.  We'll do any kind of fishing; crabs at Doran; sharks in the Bay; trout up HWY 4 and 49; salmon in oregon.  Fly, spinning, nets, we don't care . . . .

My honey is a fly fisherman.  He only fishes for trout.  We are in the Rocklin area and are always looking for new places to go.  We went to Bridgeport this past weekend.  It is about 200 miles from home.  This is a spot that we have gone for 16 years so it is kinda a tradition.  We lived in Orange County prior to getting transferred up north and are still figuring out places to go.  I think our next place we are going to check out is the Little Truckee River area.

Unfortunately, I work retail and all my weekends will be done for in the next month or two until the end of January.:(
