I'm looking to purchase an Atwood Hydro Flame 7920 18,000 BTU furnace to install in my newly purchased 2007 Fleetwood Cheyenne.  Anyone have any helpful pointers?  Thanks

Welcome!

Prior to purchase, make sure that a forced air unit is really what you want to install.  They are noisey, so if used at night, they keep some people awake, or awaken them about every 30min when they kick on.  If you do a lot of dry camping (battery power only) they suck down the battery.

Other options include:
-Electric ceramic heaters that plug in to 110v outlet if you camped plugged in to shore power.

-Wave 3 or Wave 6 Catalytic propane heaters which are radiant and convective, but don't use a fan, or your battery power.  They're silent, super efficient, and can be made portable (what I did with ours) so when not in use they are stowed away.  We sleep with ours running.

I haven't installed a furnace before, but I have installed a gas hot water heater in our trailer. Here are a few tips to think about.

1. Is the cabinet ready for the furnace? Colemans have a spot designed for the furnace, so the space and wiring should be already there.

2. You will need to cut the outside wall for the vent. Measure at least twice! If possible mark it from the inside with the furnace in place and then drill a pilot hole or two.

3. You may have to install the gas line. This requires installing a Tee in the main line and running a section of soft copper pipe.

4. For a furnace you will need a thermostat, The standard one that Coleman installs is rather cheap. Many people have replaced their with a digital one. Search through the forums on recommendations.

If this is too much work and or expense, then you can do like we do and use a ceramic heater for sites that have electricity and a Mr. Heater Buddy when we don't have electricity. It is cheaper, and I was able to rebuild the cabinet where the furnace would have gone to give us more storage.
