It depends on your camping style.

If you always have electrical hook-ups, a cube type ceramic heater seems to work well.

If you require a propane heater, "Mr Buddy" is used successfully by a lot of members here including us. You can also purchase extension hoses of various lengths and fittings to hook directly into your trailers propane gas system or into a separate propane tank to get away from the expense of those 1# cannisters.

We use mr. buddy heater when camping in the cold weather with no hookups... it works great... just have to get use to the not so fresh smell and make sure you keep a window cracked and I wouldn't sleep all night with it on ;)

Although this may be good advice for a TT, I don't think that it's a big issue in a PU. There seems to be plenty of air leakage in these things.

We sleep with ours on all night without issue. We have a CO alarm and there is a built in cut-off switch in the heater. We do leave a couple of widows cracked.

Is there a good reason Mr. Heater warns not to use while sleeping and Olympian Wave does not? Other than lawyers.

Anything that uses a flame for heat will burn up oxygen and release some amount of carbon monoxide. It's important to not have an air tight environment when using any of these radiant propane heaters. However, it is my understanding that Mr Buddy and a few others are about as safe as you can get for that style of heater.

One of the worst things in your camper is your propane stove, yet most of us use it without thought. The important thing is to make sure that you have adequate ventilation. The oxygen that is burnt by the heater must be replaced or the environment will become oxygen depleted over time and the levels of carbon monoxide will increase.

0ยง sleeping bag. :)  My battery will run my furnace about 10 to 12 hours easy. Wake up in the morning, turn on the furnace for 30 minutes to an hour and get dressed in relative warmth. Turn it on just before hitting the hay, I can get 4 days out of the battery and if I feel its getting low I just plug back in to the tow vehicle and let it idle for 20 minutes or so the next day. That usually gives me a couple more days.

Their good, I use one sometimes but if you camp at higher altitude they can be nearly worthless. I camped last year late winter up around 6500ft and the low oxygen sensor kept shutting the unit down.
