50ø here in SW Ohio today, although it's been raining on and off, what a tease to make one think of camping. Tomorrow there is a threat of light snow (YUCK). I am already so ready for spring to get here to go camping again it's not funny. Guess we need to move south or invent a weather machine.

4Campers, I can feel your pain.  I'm also in SW Ohio.  We store the  pup in the garage, so I see it every time I go out there.  It's tough to think three more months to the first camp out.  I was making reservations this weeekend, so that took off some of the sting.

I am soooooo ready!  I do believe the first weekend that it stays above freezing, I'm going.

In the meantime, while ya'll are waiting for warm camping weather, would be a great time to sit back and read Al gore's great works of science fiction about global warming....:D

Ice storm moving through parts of the south today. We'll have freezing temps as well here in South Louisiana this weekend.

just counting the days until we can pull the PUP out of the garage and clean it, getting it ready for the season.. I just said today, I should pull it out and give it some fresh air... Only thing is the windshield is 13 degrees..:frosty: is the only one happy with those temps...

4Campers, we are getting set to start our 4th season with the pup.  Most of our trips have been to other states, or other parts of Ohio.  We are only 5 minutes from the Dayton KOA in Brookville, and usually spend two or three weekends a year, especially when they are running a night free special.  We also take at least two trips to Lake Erie a year, one at Port Clinton and one at Geneva on the Lake.  DW and I love East Harbor State Park, and Kennissee?s Grand Island.  Hocking Hills State Park was also nice (if you like torrential down pours-at least it was nice and dry in the pup and the DVD player worked fine.)  This year we are also trying Mohican State Park.  DW and her sisters take the pup out once a year, and she is thinking about Beechwood Acres in Wilmington.  My sister in law has been to Natural Springs resort in New Paris and liked it.  You can actually scuba dive at the campgrounds.  I would be interested in knowing which ones you like.

Wow scificamper, you really move around in your pup. We are right in the heart of Cinci so just getting out of town can be a task at times. We usually stay close to home with one or two trips away per year. We have had our pup for 15 years now, although it was out of service for 6 years trying to get the manufacturer to fix the leaky roof. (finally did it myself)
We like Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater (both Hamilton County Parks). We also travel south to Kinkaid Lake or Big Bone (KY state parks) We found Stonelick a couple of years ago and like that one, but did not like Hueston Woods. Last two years included trips to Nebraska and Michigan. Holly Rec Area in northern Oakland County (north of Pontiac, MI) was a great place to camp, except it was 40ø and pouring rain when we were there in early July.
We have been looking at the parks in Wilimgton. I just wonder about the lake condition now since the toxic dump happened there several years ago.:(

4Campers, now that the kids are grown, and we?re almost empty nesting, we decided it was time to spend some quality time together, and see the sights.  Also, DW is also my legal assistant, in a two person office, so it s tough to take off a week and close the office down, so at least once a month, and sometimes two, we take a three day or four day weekend just to get away from it all.  It?s real relaxing to sit by the fire and sip on a locally purchased wine.  We try to hit at least one on every trip.  It?s nice to taste before we buy.  I guess pretty soon we will need AA instead of AAA.  Our most ambitious trips have been to Colonial Williamsburg, Niagara Falls, Chicago, St. Louis and Mackinac Island.  We do take a five day trip to Big South Fork National Park in Tennessee.  I t is a terrific campground, on of the best we?ve been at private or public.  We?ve also taken our three year old grand daughter on a few trips, and she loves the pup.

Yes, the empty nest syndrome. Guess we'll be there soon too. Kid #3 and #4 are close to leaving the nest here. One graduates college and one getting married this June. However like you we have already started breaking in the grandkids. G-son #1 keeps asking when it will be warm enough. He loves to camp. G-son #2 has camped with us too, but he is only 1 year old and not really aware of what's going on yet. This summer may be different. Then we have a g-daughter (#2 of 3) who first camped with us when she was just three days old. We are thinking about a trip to Tennessee this summer. Last two years trips have been to visit family, this year is for us. Maybe we'll check out Big South Fork. :)
Have you been to Versailles State Park in Indiana? That is another nice park close by here.
