I am camping this weekend. Raymond decided that he is not coming with me.

Was in DC on Tues and that is a killer, especially with all the walking and then taking a class in Arlington.

Will be back this weekend TRYING to get Congress to vote no on HealthCare reform.

I am taking the Cabin A incase anyone else wants to protest or at the very least hang out with me.

It should be interesting...looks like the Socialist Party USA is having a planned rally on Saturday...then on Sunday, illegal, undocumented and legal aliens, friends and advocates are going to be raising caine for Amnesty, so it should be an interesting time. I am taking the Cabin A so no room for others, but sites are only $16/night, $8 if you have one of the passes.
Peaces love and to quote the Who: I get down on my knees and pray we won't be fooled again.

Paula which is it you want, company or no company???:eyecrazy:

I am camping this weekend, at least I am planning to.:-()

Well can't say I would ever go to vote AGAINST reform. Court is still unable to get decent med insurance as a recent college grad and Jason will NEVER get anyone to insure him. But enough of that. This is about camping.

I am hoping to get to DC next weekend to see the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit at the National Geographic Museum before it gets shipped back to China. Paula, did I miss WHERE are you camping?

SheBantam

I was at Greenbelt NP Di.
Tracy company would have been nice, but since no one wanted to go with me I took the little trailer, easier to park, then it is just drop and play (in Greenbelt anyway. No place to plug).

Di, what Jason needs could have been done without mandating everyone buy insurance and all the other frredoms that we will loose. The IRS will be more hated than ever since they, not DHHS will be overseeing it.  Good thing for you is that children under 27 (Not sure if they have to be in college or not have heard both ways), can stay on YOUR Insurance.

I had the world's WORST Omelette at Plato Diner (College Park). It had Gyro meats, well I expected more of a cheese steak beef and lamb, nawwwwww it was more like a sausage or scrapple and not cooked well at all.  Teaches me to eat something that looks like greek (Hercules Omelette)
Then I had the world's hottest mexican (Greenbelt MD), I DO NOT DO HOT!! at all. They assured me it was just spicy not hot. One dip in the salsa and I ate the whole basket of chips to get that fire off my tongue...geesh these guys must have had their tastebuds burned out long ago...I did manage to eat the taco, but brought the tamale and enchalada as well as the black beans and the spanish rice home to Raymond.  I took one bite of one of the enchaladas and drank 2 glasses of water.  I went to Boston Market and got a veggie platter, mouth is still burning and that was SATURDAY night.

Did not have to cook. Weather was beautiful, had a great time mingling with all the other people. A little concerned about the flower children on the Metro, they looked quite 60's...Socialist Party USA was having a war protest. But we out numbered them on the Metro so they were nice to us, but again they were there for a peace rally and did not want troubel, especially from a group where most were over 50.

La Raza was coming in as I left yesterday, I counted 42 buses (of the over 700 expected) on the B/W Pky between the beltway and MD 32 (Ft, Meade) where I got off the Pky.

Wish others could have come and at the very least enjoyed the outdoors with me.

Paula I did enjoy the outdoors, minus all the thousands of people, the train, the crowds, etc.  I spent my time with birds, rabbits, and a few other animals.:)

DiW

Looks like both of you got the weekend you wanted (at least weather wise). It was beautiful here. Kels was pretty sick and she spent both days lying out in the sun. Swore it made her feel better. Blue skies and lots of birds. Definitely uplifting. We did some work and reading outside. Thought of you guys camping. Thanks Paula for mentioning Greenbelt NP. I've never been there. Will have to look into it for the future. This is a quick overnight trip squished between track practices so we'll hotel it for one night.

tlhdoc

Di I hope K is feeling better.  Is it anything serious?

DiW

No Tracy. Flu like symptoms. She just catches everything now (since mono in the fall).

tlhdoc

Di that is good.  Please tell her I said hi.

SheBantam

Actually I stayed out of most of the crowds, sort of stay on the skirts of the goings on. I was in Vienna that weekend and should have called Dave and SHirley and said hi.  I go to the metro station off the beltway that is a direct shot to where I want to go. I have learned how to use a GPS so I can get almost anywhere now.

Will be going back on April 14th and staying thru to Sunday. THere is the Tea Party Rally on APril 15th.

This weekend (Easter) I will be at Cape Henlopen, another place where there is no electricity but hot showers. Raymond wants to fish and fish he can on the pier. We will be taking the Bantam so we have room, that full sized bed in the cabin A is just a little too little for the two of us.

I was just checking out that park for a possible summer trip.  What are the sites like?  Any of them better then the others?

SheBantam

There is a group/scout area if that is what you are looking for.

For the family,
I try for loop D. As far as good and bad sites, well I am not good at keeping track and even with reservations, you are not guaranteed a certain site.  This time of year you can drive through the campground, no one is in the booth to take a look.

There is a self service board, get your site and then go back and fill out the paperwork.  This time of year with the foliage still not quite out, you can hear the traffic on Kennilworth Ave. in the distance.

I will be there tomorrow night just in time for the Tea Party Rally on Thursday...well actually 2 of 'em. A day Time one by the IRS building and a second one at the Washington Monument ending at 9:00 PM, too late to take the train back to Perryville and will be too tired to drive all the way back.
