I have an 02 Niagra Elite and need a new roof seal and storage seal.

Dealer quoted me $685 for the roof seal (part only)!!!!????

Anybody found a supplier for this?

Thanks

Sorry but it's an OEM only part. But the dealer is high on the price. Last quote I got was $9 per foot plus installation. WHich would make it around $360 for the 40 foot of seal plus IRRC 1 hour labor.

Wow!  You are right Mike! Called another dealer and they quoted me $300 plus the glue....That's just crazy!!!

Just plain robbery and you won't even get kissed...at least Jesse James, the great bank robber had a horse and a gun....

Another way to think this is using some form of sealant you can apply instead of being "robbed" by the dealer. I used Eterna-Bond to seal our roof edges and it is still holding well after five years. That was a much better solution than a new roof ($2,800) which would have probably started leaking in about a year like the last three did. (thanks goodness the factory covered the cost of those, until the warranty expired anyway)

We re-glued the seal probably 2 years ago and is just now starting to let go again.  Because of the shrinkage,  will certainly replace it this time. Just very surprised about the price difference between 2 "dealers" !   I sure feel lucky that I've never had a roof leak after seeing so many posts about that problem.  (I probably should not have typed that out loud!)

Well, replacing the seals and caulk is just something that needs to be done after a few years of exposure to the elements breaking them down. If not done soon enough and moisture invades the roof then it's a whole new problem. But at $300-600 to do the job I would think more towards an alternate solution. The camper is 8 years old, will you keep it another 8? At that point the roof will need to be done again, and selling it might be out of the question. For about $50-60 you can buy a roll of Eterna-Bond tape. The stuff is guaranteed for ten years. It doesn't look the best but it works. Just my thoughts trying to save you some time and money. :)

Etrnabond won't work for the roof to box seal that seals when the camper is closed. If you did use it you couldn't lift the roof.
It's a pain that the seal is an OEM only item but that's a problem Coleman/Fleetwood PU owners have.

OK, sorry. I know which seal you're talking about now. I was thinking about the split roof Coleman's with the seal down the middle.
Well, the EternaBond would seal the box as long as you never wanted to camp in the pup again.:)

Look through these:

You may find something compatible.  That stuff is basically vehicle trunk weatherstrip. It's expensive but not that expensive.
