I ended my campground maintenance job at Old Orchard Beach Maine 1.5 months early, and going to start my slow meandering journey south. Not going far, pull out of OOB tomorrow and going about 30 minutes south to the Thousand Trails at Wells Maine for a couple weeks, then on to another in Sturbridge Mass for a week. I'm not in any kind of hurry, it's still too hot to go directly to Florida!! It's going to be good getting back on the road again!!

Good for you! Retirement is for relaxing and doing whatever you want to do, not working.
Can't tell you how many times I've thought about getting a job since I retired. Then I think about having a schedule again and that changes my mind. :)

Doesn't really sound like a bad way to live.

Well, my "Staycation" is kind of on hold. I check into TT Moody Beach which just happens to share the same General Manager as the park that I just left, he spotted me and explained he had ZERO maintenance staff on board. So I let him talk me into working afternoons (5 hours per day) to help out where I can, probably mostly mowing the grass which seems to be out of control (thankfully they have a zero turn)... Hell, it keeps the paychecks coming a couple more weeks anyway!!

Well, I guess the extra paychecks are nice, but you just have to learn to say NO!
Although if it's mostly mowing on a zero-turn machine, sounds easy enough.
I hope your next stop has a different general manager!

The next stop has a shared "Regional" manager, and she knows me pretty well. But I don't think they'll ask anything of me, I'll only be there for a week. After that I'll be half way down the coast. The park in Williamsburg knows me too, they know I work for ELS (the parent company of Thousand Trails), they even tried to get me to stay there and work for them on my way north in April. Again, I doubt they will ask at this point, and I probably would say no anyway!!!

Clif,
I'd take it as a complement that they want you to work.  You have the time and if you're willing, it sounds like a win for everyone.  You're helping others, you have something useful to keep you occupied and you have some extra $$$.  Most businesses I hear from say it's very hard to find someone who knows the very basics of being a good employee - like showing up for work, doing your job, etc.  It's no wonder they ask you back when they know you are good.
Happy camping!
