Left Maine over a week ago, spent 7 nights at a friends truck shop in Oxford Mass (he has a 50amp hook-up for his motor home). Truck went into limp mode approx 2 hours into a 2.5 hour trip. Saw the dash screen show a warning of "Fuel Filter" so after doing some side of the road research, disconnected both the batteries for 15 minutes, then reconnected, from there it ran fine the rest of the trip. My friend (who happens to be quite wealthy) bought a fuel filter and a oil filter, and the oil and had his mechanic get my truck fixed and cleared the codes!

From there the truck has run flawlessly, so I'm real happy with that, and love the power that Duramax & Allison combination deliver. Got to Lums Pond State Park in northern Delaware on a single tank of diesel, and getting about 11 mpg towing the trailer!

The trip out of Delaware yesterday had slightly different results, but the truck still ran flawlessly. I was rolling down Rt 301 a few miles before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge that crosses over to Annapolis when some people pulled beside me, pointing frantically at my trailer. So I pull over and take a walk around, and discovered my trailer right side tire was completely shredded. It looks like it was flat for quite some distance, but I didn't even know there was a problem back there! The other tire seemed to survive just fine, and held the trailer up so that my rim wasn't destroyed. Pulled into Thousand Trails Williamsburg Va about an hour later than planned.

It's a good think I carry 2 spare NEW tires in the back of the truck for this very purpose. Will have the tire monkey's at the shop I retired from mount one on Monday, will probably use the second one on that same side, as the right tires are older 10 ply tires while the left side has newer 12 ply tires on it.

On another thought, the tire didn't wreck my trailer too much, cracked the plastic fender flare but it's still usable, and didn't destroy the wheel well under the trailer above the tire, but it did tear up the black tarp like material that protects the wood. I've got a couple minor repairs to get that fixed.

Sounds like you got off relatively easy with the flat tire.  Could have been worse!  Carrying two spare tires sounds like a good plan.  You could have run into a problem of no one locally having a tire in stock.

To be honest, I didn't trust those 10 ply TowMax China bombs anyway. Not that the 12 pky TransEagle China bombs are any better. I will buy 2 more tires this winter, going to go with the 12 ply Carlisle like I have on the other side, they seem to be good tires.

I don't know if your luck is good or bad. Truck breaks down, you have a master mechanic friend. No place to stay, friend has a 50 AMP hookup, no charge. Blow out a tire, nice folks flag you down.
Hope the rest of your trip south is met with good luck.

I don't know either, hopefully the rest of the trip goes without any significant issues! Between here and Orlando I have no resources to fall back on.
