Recently purchased a 1979 Palimino PU in need of major repair. It had no canvass so I purchased a new one but am needing some installation help as far as manuals or instruction guides. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanx

Not much to it.

I replaced all the sections of canvas on my 78' Palomino, and between two people it took less than two hours.

Up in the ceiling section in the roof and the aluminum box molding are rails that you mearly slide the canvas in to.  Add screws at the beginning and end pieces to secure each section. I suggest that you do this after all five sections are in place, centered, and zippered all together.

If yours is any thing like mine, the canvas came in 5 sections.

2- Bunk ends with vinyl covered roofs.
1- Very long section for the back wall.
1- medium sized section for the large section along side the door.
1- small section for the small section along side the door.

Each section will be zippered together after roughly placed in position. Vinyl and window flaps are positioned INSIDE the PU. There may be straps to hold the rolled up window sections..... these are positioned INSIDE the PU to make certain.

Use screws in each of the four corners of the ceiling to secure the canvas to make the turn (use large diameter washers, bent to match the contour of the roof using a bench vise, and a small hammer)

Use a number of screws and washers to secure the bottom edge of the canvas to the bottom side of the wooden bunk end piece along the long side edge.
(the 6' 1/2 " side..... sides used to pull the bunk ends out) The two side sections of canvas will be held in position using the built in bungee cord and plastic hook.  So when you pull out or push in the bunk, the canvas will be permanently attached to the edge that you pull from..... the two sides will use the bungee cord, and must be unfastened during the set-up and take down of the PU.

This should do it for 'ya.

 Good luck....... It's a piece a cake.

Interesting, I have a 96 Palomino Filly with the same problem. The board on mine is bad all the way across the back. I'll be adding a plate on the inside too. Also, they make a wood hardner that I've heard some of the sail boat people talking about. I think I'm going to try that also.

Now if I can just find someone that understands the lift on these things.

Thanks Dan that will be a big help.

Diane thank you too, you're super.

From what others have told me, the airconditioner that causes a lot of rot on the rear like this. I'm going to double check all the seams on top again too.
