Ok, bear with me for a moment here, I m just thinking out loud...

A lot of folks would love to access the refrigerator in their pop-up with the top down, myself included.  A few models have a floorplan that lets you do this. But--- I remember seeing a pop-up that you could access the fridge from the inside of the trailer AND the outside (can t remember which one it was). What type of fridge was that? Was the " guts"  of the fridge located on one side of the fridge, instead of the usual location across the back? *If* you happened to find a good deal on a fridge of this type, could it be swapped into the location Coleman places the fridge?

Yeah, you d have to cut a hole in the side of the trailer, but we ll jump off that bridge when we get to it. Just wondering if this mod could be done, and why more manufacturers don t offer this type of fridge on their pop-ups. Are they taller than the usual 3-way fridge? Wider? Deeper? Am I the only person who has ever gave this a second thought?

Sunday morning musings can be fun. [:D]

Ab DiverI don t remember which trailer had them, but do remember seeing one. The " guts"  as you call it, must have been on the side. the inside and outside door were really just at opposite ends, open both and remove the shelves and you have a pet access door!

Ab DiverIt seems to me that jayco trailers had a through access fridge, but I could be wrong.

Ab DiverWhile I have seen double access iceboxes and several years ago if I remember right seeing a double access fridge in a brouchure, my looking today at manufacturer sites and erfridgeration sites (including marine installations) I couldn t find any one producing such a unit today.
IMHO your best bet would ne to contruct one using marine refridgeration equipment which is " free form"  so you can refridsgerate most any insulated space you want. But you won t do it cheaply, that stuff is big bucks.

You are right on the money.  It was the Jayco Heritage Rainier that had a 12 V, 4 CU FT pass through refrigerator available as an option.  Jayco has since discontinued the Heritage line.  I think they are calling the replacement the designer series, see the press release on the Popup Times home page.

Last week we saw a Starcraft Centennial.  They feature a pass through ice box.  It s a nice feature.  You can get to your cold drinks, etc, whether traveling or set without having to open or enter teh trailer.

Ab DiverOk, after searching a couple other forums, nothing.  Then I searched the alt.rv.pop-up-trailers newsgroup through Google, and found a couple references to a pass-through-equipped Jayco. Followed that on to a web site for InstaFreeze Refrigerators. They make 2 versions of a pass-through fridge, a 4 cu foot and a 4.2 cu foot. But, I don t think they work on LP or 110V, just 12V.  Bummer, LP is the only way to go if you are dry camping, unless you bring a generator.

Here s the web site, scroll down a bit:

Problem is, Jayco s site doesn t mention anything about a pass-through fridge. Must not be offering it anymore.

A " pass-through" , 3-way fridge would be a godsend to pop-up owners. I wonder if one exists. The search continues...

Ab DiverSeems like a reasonable request to have the manufacturer make one of these.  I would think that they could easily put the refrigerator guts or access through the front storage box of the camper.
