I have it here if front of me [:)]  What should I expect when its installed and set up? How well does the sway control work that s built into it?

YellowXterraThe directions that come with it are hard to read but if you study them you ll get it.  There are some 90 degree angle plates that mount to your trailer with u- bolts and the friction pads mount to the top of that. You may have to make spacers to fill the space in the u-bolts if your trailer frame is only 2 x 3 inches. Then you have to drill and counter-sink the friction pads in order to mount them to the angle brackets. You actually have to drill  right through the pads. You need to install these brachets so that the spring bars sit in the middle of the pads when your vehicle and trailer are straight. In my case this meant drilling holes in the battery tray to accomidate the bolts. The way the sway control works is the spring bars hook in by the ball and slide on top of the pads creating friction. You adjust the amount of force on the bars by spinning the square washers on the section of the hitch with the ball. I started mine out on the lightest setting and ended up going to the next highest setting. You get the bars on by raising the hitch, either by the toungue jack or putting the tow vehicle up on blocks or a combo of both. In my case I usually put them on by pulling my van up on a speed bump by my house then i hop out and put them on.
One thing I ll have to mention...I got the thing about half way installed and took it to my hitch guy and paid him $75.00 to install it. He welded solid steel spacers to the frame and did a really sweet job of installing the hitch.

YellowXterraI also found the directions lacking in a few places.
it was one of the first pages i did on my Web Page.
Visit it for my comments and a few tips and photos on installation

As for how well the sway control works?
 Very well!
We drove without it for a few trips, and were very impressed at how solid the trailer felt with it.
You will be very pleased with the results.
getting the torsion bars on and off will require you to look for slights bumps or dips in the road, to make it easier, experience will help in finding speed bumps, or dips.

YellowXterraWill this hitch affect backing the camper?  should the bars be removed before backing?

YellowXterraWe have no problem backing our Utah with the spring bars in place. We also think the sway control works very well. DH installed the unit in well under an hour.

YellowXterraJust makes sure you get the friction pads on the correct sides. My dealer  put them on backwards. They must run exactly parallel to the A-frame. If they are reversed, they are off probably about 10 or 15 degrees. You can t keep the spring bars on then. Go around a corner and off they come!

YellowXterra6Quigs You web site is great! Thanks for your information and like to you site. I plan on installing the hitch this weekend. I went ahead and had a buddy at a local machine shop drill and install the pads and also picked up 2 spacers as well.
