Does anyone have any last minute advice for us as we will be picking up our new hybrid tomorrow?  This will be our first " new"  camper so we need any tips on things to look for.  The dealer has already tested all the systems and appliances.  They will be installing the sway bar and brake control and we will do our walk thru.  We have only bought used in the past so is there anything different we need to be aware of?  Guess I m kinda late asking but any info will be appreciated.  Up to now we ve been caught up in just deciding on what to get.

PopUpTrioI guess if you have done a reasonable walk-through and the dealer has inspected and checked out everything then you should be good to go for now.  Anything that you didn t catch should be handled by the warranty.  Look around for cosmetic defects (dents, scratches, etc..) and make sure the items that should come with the camper are all there (spare, battery, crank handles, etc..) as those items are not warranty items and you could get into a no win argument (It was there.... NO, It wasn t there.....).   If you did your homework and checked out the dealer ahead of time, you should be ok if everything isn t perfect.

I would set-up the camper in my driveway and read the owner s manual and test out all the systems thoroughly.  That way you will know if everything works as advertised and expected BEFORE you go camping......... and by the way, congradulations on your new camper.  I saw several hybrids that were very nice at the Columbia, SC RV show today.

 PopUpTrioDid things go well?

Were you happy with the walk through or did you have lot s of questions?

How long did it take to install the sway bar and brakes?

 Was it different to tow?

 We re you excited?

When we picked up our pop up last year new, I don t think my feet were actually touching the groud I was so excited!  I can t even imagine picking up the hybrid.

 Good luck!

PopUpTriodo you need a weight distrubuting hitch?
 we did!
the hardest part was not seeing over the top of the unit, make sure you have good mirrors, and backing up takes patience and pratice, we use walkie talkies, so we don t have to yell, watch out for the tree limbs, or wires![:o]

don t forget your step stool! to reach the bunk locks!

PopUpTrioEverything went very well, we re home and we love the camper. No regrets.
The walk-thru was as good as could be expected from a dealer who has never sold a hybrid.  They ordered it for us from the manufacturer as they have not ever kept hybrids on their lot.  They knew how to do everything that wasn t specifically related to it being a hybrid.  The only thing we need to work on is getting the ends put up with the mattresses secured where it looks good.  I ll do a search on the forums for advice as I ve seen prior posts pertaining to this.  Also, the manufacturer shipped it without the tent support posts (shephard hooks) so they are going to overnight them to us.  That is not a problem as we know how to use those.

There were no cosmetic issues, everything looked nice.  We even got a few things we weren t expecting.

It only took an hour or less to hook up the sway and brake control.  The service guy did this while we did our inspection with the salesman.  Then they went over everything with us to explain how it worked.  We went through a major rainstorm on the way home and were quite please with the way it towed.

The dealer nor my husband felt we needed the WD hitch so we will not get it unless something changes.  The camper is light compared to some other hybrids, the tongue weight is not high and it sat very nice when hooked up.

We couldn t resist Wal-mart as we drove by and stopped to buy matching rugs, extra fuses, shelf liner, and so on...I m sure I ll be in it all day tomorrow getting things in order...we re off to the nearest State Park (Tyler) next weekend.

The dealer did tell us that he is going to concentrate on hybrids this yr and is going to be ordering some for his lot.. he will have less popups as a result.

So far it s been an exciting time...I d highly recommend it to anyone considering doing the same.

PopUpTrioCongratulations!  Hope you get some nice weather soon so you can start enjoying it.

We got ours last June and took from the dealer to the closest campground and started setting it up and filling it with the goodies we got from PUT  s Store, Camping World, etc.
