We went to the RV show on Saturday.  Good thing, because we got hit with a MAJOR snow storm on Sunday/Monday.  They have 3 buildings of RV s a really nice display of PU s.  Recreation World of Annapolis had the best prices on Coleman s.  We looked at all of the others.  Seems most, if not all, of the PU s were represented.  But our daughter was shopping for a Coleman so that is why we were comparing prices.  She liked the Monterey if it had had the shower.  She liked the table arrangement.  They are a good dealer and have been very good to us, but she was still comparing for the best deal.  They still beat everyone.

camphostWe missed it!  Wanted to go Saturday, but the snow had started and we figured we d better get it cleaned up before the next round came through.  Hopefully we ll be able to go one of the days next weekend.  I d like to see if we can pick up a screen room or an AAR.

Did your daughter decide on anything?  If not and if she is willing to make the drive - Charlie s RVs in Randallstown (they sell Coleman) is really great  - very helpful.  I went in with a price to 3 dealers including theirs.  The other 2 just laughed at me.  Charlies went and worked the deal and reworked it until they were able to meet my price.  Since then they have been great to work with, willing to help as much as possible even over the phone.

camphostShe cannot buy this year, they are leaving for Italy in June for 2 1/2 years.  They will purchase upon their return.  If they were able to purchase this year it would have been the Niagara.  They wanted to be sure what they wanted so that they can save the cash while they are away.  We are very familiar with Charlie s, we bought our used Westlake from them a few years back.  We went to them with the deal we had on our 2002 Niagara last year and they could not come anywhere near it.  We got it for $10,500 with EVERYTHING.  Awning, battery, A/C, furnace, bunk end lights w/fans, door mat, sheets, etc, etc, etc.  And the service has been great.  This year their price is $10,4 plus the A/C but it still includes everything else, plus what Coleman is throwing in.  She would have bought it if they were not leaving the country.  It was the best deal anyone offered her.  Charlie s is a good dealer, nice people and great service.  We wanted to buy from them last year but they could not get anywhere near the price and they said so.

camphostI agree with you about Charlie s. I got my new Utah 2003 there in Sept. got a good price compared to most dealers. [:)]

got woody?

camphostI was there on Saturday as well.  Don t forget, this is a two weekend show.  You can still go Feb 21, 22 and 23.

As far as best prices go, be sure to double check Beckley s from Thurmont.  Completely opposite part of the state I know, but lets just say someone should remind the folks at a certain dealer in the state capitol that honesty is the best policy.

I had heard they weren t exactly truthful on the Coleman Roof Sag issue so I played dumb and asked about it.  I was less than satisfied with the answer I got, and won t be giving them my $10,000+

Dealers really should wise up to the the amount of info available on great boards such as this and just be honest.  We know the issue, the reasons it happened, and how Coleman took care of it.  Armed with that knowledge, their product remains on my list to consider.

 But not that dealer...

camphostI must agree regarding the dealer in our State capital - we purchased there and lived to regret it.  We got a good deal, but the service post-purchase was absolutely absymal - a six-week wait for a simple part replacement, no communication from the service department (none!), blame-the-other-guy explanations, false information - terrible.  On the advice from this board, we went to Charlie s for service and help - nothing but good things to report.  I hope the purchasers-to-be make a bee-line for Charlie s.  No " good"  deal is worth the hassle we went through to get warranty work done - we ve learned our lesson!
