the longer this winter gets the more I keep dreaming of going camping and the more I keep mentally spending on things for the camper.  Shelves for the bunk ends - we didn t need them last year but they are sounding good now.  An AAR - again did okay last year without one, but. . .   Bunkend Fan/light combo - don t think we need it but they look pretty cool.  A second propane tank so maybe we can start camping a little sooner.  And that barely scratches the surface!

I am ready to open the door without popping up (it is in the garage) and crawl inside.

Starryart

whippetwrunOnce I had to crawl inside my PU to retrieve and item. It had been several months since we had camped, and I was in need of a camping fix so...
I just layed there in the crawl space and soaked up those camper smells.
We are a sad lot aren t we![:D]
But like Dr. Phil says, " If it makes you happy and it doesn t hurt you or anyone else, go for it!"
I wonder what makes PUing so addictive to us?
Maybe I ll email the Dr.Phil show (snicker -can we do that?) and see what he says.

whippetwrun[:)]I too can t believe how much I want to be in my PU again.  Just went to the Coleman site and did a virtual tour of the Cheyenne since we can t popup ours in this temperature.

whippetwrunI m glad to read these posts! I thought I was going over the edge! What IS it about the smells of the popup that is so rejuvenating!!! It seems to take YEARS OFF!
I m an avid Cross Country skier, but even I m ready for spring to arrive. Winter around here came a bit early, (we skied on November 9th!), so I m hoping it will end early! And NOT snow on Mother s Day like it did two years ago!

 whippetwrunI miss my pop up![:(]

OK, so we bought the hybrid a couple weeks ago and I really excited about that but I don t feel as attached to it as I do to my pop up.  Maybe cuz we havn t picked it up yet or maybe it just won t be the same, kinda like my first love I guess, nothing will ever compare.  I wish I could slide my head in the door of the pop up but it s still buried under 2 feet of snow and they are calling for another 6 inches this weekend!  I sure to hope it stays to the south! (Sigh) I really do miss my pop up.

whippetwrunI have been buying stuff for the PU.  BAL leveler, plastic patio mat, toilet chemical, etc.  I think I am going to drive to the dealer tomorrow.[&:]

whippetwrunWe ve  been renovating a room as we do each spring and even that isn t keeping my mind off the PU buried in the back yard. I have been slowly buying new things for it  since before christmas and if dh ever finds my stash I m gonna get it big time!!!! I have filled a cupboard in the storage room with things we had to have.

Tammy if that snow hits south of you thats me and we ve got plenty enough thank you very much. Now, if it goes south of us oh well  [;)]  its not in MY backyard!!

Turn Key

whippetwrunHaven t been out since October and we live in Texas and usually camp all winter!!!  Things just haven t worked out due to weather and other things.  Both DW and I are suffering from a bad case of withdrawl.

Soooo...DW got a bright idea.  Our dealer, Western Camper of Ft. Worth, has an indoor camping display set up.  They have 4-5 Coleman units set up with canopy, " fire"  ring, AAR s and the whole bit.  The insides of the units are lit and decorated as you would if your were camping.  The walls of the room have been painted dark and the lights are off so that it looks like a night scene.  There is even a small waterfall!!!  You can almost hear the crickets chirp and the fish jump in the lake.  If you have been there, you know what I m talking about.

We had planned a 3-day trip this last week but due to lousy weather we had to call it off again.  I m just about ready to pull my hair out!  DW gets on the phone, calls Western Camper and asks if we can rent a space in their inside display!!!  We were even willing to pay for it!!!  What more could they have asked for???  Unortunately, they decided to act stuffy about this and wouldn t let us do it.  I thought it would be great advertising and it wouldn t cost them a thing [:D] !

 What do you all think?

whippetwrun

whippetwrunI feel so much better reading these posts! I mean, I was starting to scare myself  each time I went into the garage to get something and saw the popup, I stood there wistfully staring at it, forgetting the reason I went into the garage in the first place.

Then there was the day I made up a reason as to why I needed to open the door and crawl in, kinda like what you did Starryart - only I didn t really have a reason. [:)]

Hopefully we won t have to wait too much longer.  Maybe someone can build a Skydome kind of campground, set up like Turn Key s dealer to help us get our fix midwinter![;)]

Camper Dan

 whippetwrunYeah,[:D]

We had to go to the RV show to get a camper " fix" .  We re park volunteers and have been doing winter hikes in the snow the last 4 weekends.  We just can t wait to camp again.  They have the restrooms open and heated at a nearby state park...the first time in about 10 years.  We ve been kicking the idea around...but the trailer stuff is stored hear and there and everywhere.  Then, the weather has turned from rainy to icy back to rainy.  We re making reservations next week for the first week/weekend in April.[;)]
