Bought some of these [two] at Walmark over the weekend. It has so may buttons and bells and alarms that even after reading the directions I am confused. Has any one run into also? Come on now, we will not hold it to ya. Is the normal operation in the scan mode? Can you receive in scan mode. How about transmit in scan mode? Nothing in the book. If I call tech support I know I will get someone who can not speak english.[:@]

whitestar505If you are talking about the FRS radios, then they are not too bad to operate. Basically they have a  main channel (the big number on the screen) and a sub-channel (the small number on the screen).  Both radios have to be on the same channel and sub-channel to communicate with each other.  In most campgrounds we go to, the scan will let you hear everybody, and most of the time that is not what you will want.  Once you set your channel and sub-channels, you may need to change to another channel if there is too much traffic / talk from others who are also using FRS radios.  In that case, I have found that you agree that both radios will move up 2 channels when you ask the other side to change channels rather than telling someone to " go to channel 10 - 2"  as that will basically be an invitation to others to hear in on your conversation or interupt your conversations.....

If that isn t your question, let us know.  I m sure if you put in some batteries and play with the radios a little that you will eventually figure them out.

Gamecock CamperOK, I can not get both radios on one freg. Do you set them up by pushing the mode button? Oh! these are GR series. I think the book was translated from some other language.

whitestar505What brand are they?  I have the Motorola and another brand (we have three kids to keep track of).  All four work together if they are all on the same channel and sub-channel.

If you tell me the brand and model name, I might be able to help a little more.

whitestar505If the radios are GMRS (not FRS), then you are required to obtain a license from the FCC before transmitting with them ($75 [:@]).

FRS radios do not require a license.

AustinBostonNo Problem Here. I just think the radios are not working correctly. Not ever using them gives me no idea of what to expect. The radios are GMRS...

Gamecock Camper

whitestar505I don t know anything about GMRS.  I guess they have a greater range than the FRS radios we have.  Sorry.  I did get your e-mail, but don t think I ll be able to help.....

whitestar505It is not as bad as it seems.  We were camping and gave one to a four year old, she had no problem with it.
When we hike in areas with lots of hills, rock formations and canyons the distance it works is really cut down.
We see families using them at malls.

Gamecock CamperOK, I looked on the web. Did a search for the model number and guess what? Could not find anything. I also did look and the instructions are printed in China.
