I can t get in .......... the chatnet server seems to be down so I need an IP address of a working server ......

 GeeMan and I are on irc.eskimo.com.  If you are using mIRC, you will need to add it because it is not on the list:
 
 On the mIRC Options screen, click " Add"
 
 Description: Eskimo
 IRC Server: irc.eskimo.com
 Port: 6667
 Group: Eskimo
 
 (leave password blank).
 
 Click OK, exit & re-start mIRC, and go into Eskimo instead of Chatnet.

 Do you have to pay for IRC chat? I downloaded it once but think they wouldn t let me use it anymore until I paid. I think it was IRc

Try using eskimo.com
