 In a separate post I mentioned PopUpCamping.com.

 Well, I found a link to http://www.tinytears.cc/

It appears that this is a DIY trailer that is a smaller version of a tear drop trailer.  I wasn t able to find anything except the banner for ordering logo stuff.

This looked interesting and I wanted to read about the trailers.  Can anyone offer info...and see if it is just me that can t access further info at that site?

ShirleyT

sandykayakI clicked on the pictures of the trailers in the middle of the page and it took me to another page where I found pictures of construction and stuff.

 http://www.tinytears.cc/teardrop2.html

If you scroll on the left you can get more links to other pictures. I took a look at some of the pics, ingenious idea of building the kitchen in the back where it is accessed from the outside! I think I would be clasterphobic in the thing, and what about AC?? [:o]

Think for the cost of the kit you could buy a really nice PU.

 sandykayakSandyK,
I too have been looking at teardrops, are you sure you want me to start posting links[8D][:D]

Here are a couple to get you started: no www on the first one

 http://teardroptimes.weblogs.com  www.kuffelcreek.com  www.tinycamper.com

That ought to keep you busy for a while, plus you can follow the links from the sites. Let me know if you need any more ;>)

wahoonchey Aaron the link you posted was great! That trailer looks a lot better than the one I looked at. Now I can see why someone might want one!

 sandykayakShirley,
I have been looking at the Kuffel Creek in particular. But my wife is mildly claustropobic, so until we can see one in person, I will have to just enjoy on the web. If you can find a link to the Sweetwater Pictures you will be busy for a longgggggg time. The amazing thing is that no two are exactly alike. Everyone personalizes them. They don t weigh much more than the smallest popup, not a whole lot of room but they do cover the basics and....you don t have to worry about popping down in the rain LOL

sandykayakaaron, good link to kuffel...did I miss something?  I d like to see a picture of the inside all ready to go - as opposed to one cabinet at a time.

A camper could be roasted " well done"  in a tear drop in Florida.  I hate to mention it to y all freezing yer buns off, but we are sweltering in south fla.  my van a/c is broken and I m dying.....we re talking 90 or so in the sun...forecast the other day was 87 and that s shade temp.

 sandykayakSandy,
Most of the newer teardrops have good insulation in them and it isn t too hard to get air moving in them either. There are a couple of manufacturers that put a/c in them if you want. I will see if I can find the links and post them. Kind of a neat way to go. The orginal concept behind the teardrop revival was simplicity, minimal or no hookups, no tenting to worry about drying out, the kitchen is right there and ready to use. They are also pretty light so you can tow them with just about anything. I have seen one being towed by a VW new Beetle.

Edina Kid

 sandykayakThese are great little campers!

 Also try http://cozycruiser.com/

 sandykayakthanks, edina...it is sooooo cute....

i had really wanted an A-frame because of the ease of popping...but this is Florida and I knew the all screened interior would be better (someone who bought one (and lives in Fla.) said " It s a hot box." ).  Otherwise you would be forced to use the a/c practically all the time.  Plus I like the feel of being in a tent.

Interesting facts: the Teardrop is 1,300 lbs - My jayco Qwest 8 is (I belive) 1,100.
The overall length of the TD is 12 , same as the Qwest
The box of the TD is 9  and the Qwest is 8

Horscampr

sandykayakThose are cute little campers for the right person.

My only complaint upon looking at some of the pictures is that they don t seem to have many (if any..in some cases) windows.

Part of what I enjoy about camping is having the fresh air blowing through the windows.  Poppy has a lot of windows and I love that.  I also like the feel of having the canvas there.

On the flip side, I think most people would feel rather cozy in one of these little trailers, especially during a heavy T-storm.  They look like they would be rather sturdy in standing up to some of the nasty weather that mother nature can bring about.

The capacity to be able to tow them with a smaller vehicle is a nice option too.

sandykayakI believe the advantage to the teardrops would come in during the swing seasons further north than FL. If you want a really light popup check out this link.
