I posted this as a response on the " product reviews"  thread, but since I think everyone is like me and rarely checks the other threads, I m gonna post it here to.  I need to figure out something fairly soon.

So the RoadTrip is worth the extra $50 or so over the Thermos? We re trying to squeeze together the money to buy one of them to keep our summer trip less expensive (cooking more often at the camper rather than eating out). Although the Thermos is cheaper, if it doesn t work as well in the long run it will end up more expensive when we have to replace it.

The Roadtrip looked like it was more versatile when we compared them today although heavier and more difficult to clean than the Grill2Go.

 TIA!

Miss-TeriI bought the grill2go before the Roadtrip came out. I do not know which is better. However I do like my grill2go. It takes up some room in the pop up. I like to camp when I go to Purdue football games and it is real nice to take tailgating. It s nice for making breakfest when camping or a fast meal after sightseeing all day. It  takes a little bit of time to heat heat up and is a bit of a pain to clean. I think it is a good product.

Miss-TeriI love my grill2go, I use it all the time, at  the race track, camping, its great for bacon on one side and eggs on the other, or hash browns french toast, pancakes,, ect... it is a pain to clean but i am sure the road trip is no picnic either, I do know the cooking surface on the grill2go is bigger that the roadtrip, although the roadtrip heats up faster, IMHO, the price difference is a big factor, save the 50 or 60 bucks and get the grill2go. Besides that while I was on a few trips last summer 10 days in kentucky saw a lot of people using the grill2go, and in myrtle beach saw even more people using them. I say go for the grill2go [:D]

Miss-TeriFor their purpose both unit are nice, but the GTG IMO is nothing more than a large griddle. The RT get a little pricey by the time you buy the extra inserts to convert it back and forth.
As long as I have a picnic table to put something on I m sticking with my Coleman stove, griddle, and Sunbeam gas grill. A Weber Smokey Joe (the little 18"  one) will be added for charcoal.

PS: the cost of all of them on sale is less than either the GTG or the RT.

Miss-TeriI guess I ve gotta agree with Mike.  The Roadtrip looks nice, but is too pricey.  The GTG to me is nothing more that a big griddle.  It s not going to give your food that good " char broiled"  taste.  I use a big teflon griddle that fits over both burners on my outdoor stove for pancakes, and we have a small gas grill for grilling things.

Miss-TeriI read and post in the product reviews and having owned both, this is what I last posted:
To be completely honest, having owned both the Grill2Go and the Road Trip Grill, the Grill2Go IS easier to clean, however that is the only thing (in my opinion) that it has going for it!
My Grill2Go was so slow at heating the grill/griddle, sometimes you d look and only half the burner would be lit. I had to put a couple of chunks of alum. foil under one edge of the grill in order to let enough oxygen in for the whole burner to light, then the grease dripped under the grill rather than in the little catch bottle which started a grease fire, which finally burned itself out. Then I took the griddle and grill off at the same time and the whole thing tipped over backwards off it s stand,I threw everything together, put it in it s case and carried it over and gave it to my brother in law! Left the campground for the nearest store, bought a Road Trip Grill and have been happy ever since!
Since then I ve ordered extra griddles, grills, and stove top supports so I can set it up any way I want it!
If you d like more info, email me!

As an addition, I may have $200.00 invested, maybe more, I m not sure, but it takes the place of two items, plus I can use either the small canisters or a 20lb tank.

Miss-TeriI also own a Grill2Go an have not been impressed by it. Gary stated some very honest comments on it, especially about taking the grill sections out for cleaning, the first time I did that, the thing tipped over and fell out of the stand.

FWIW, they both take up too much space. I spotted a Coleman Grill-n-Griddle at Target today, total cost was $59 and it was no bigger than my desk top computer tower (probably a bit smaller). It had a reversable non-stick grill/griddle and a catch system for the grease. From what I could see, the grease catch looked like it would be easy to clean out... the G2G grease bottle is near impossible to empty, let alone clean it out! I m going to get this little gem and not sure what I ll do with the G2G, but that ll free up a lot of extra space in my front storage trunk!!!!

Cliff, We got one of these, and they are great. We run it off the distribution tree along with the open grill if we need to.  Easy maintence, self igniting, easy to store.... What s not to like.
