The Overmans

Wife and I went Camping at a state park South of Houston in Late September.  The weather turned cool (50 s - to low 60 s night time lows) at night for  that time of year.  We had some condensation on the tent material (roof) over top of the Beds[:(][:o].  Does anyone have any suggestion on how I can prevent this?[:)]  It makes early morning Pop downs unlikely due to drying time.[: (]

The OvermansNo matter what the weather is like we always leave a little bit of the windows opened for air circulation. We haven t had a condensation problem at all.

The Overmans[sarcastic mode on/] All you have to do to prevent the condensation is to stop breathing [sarcastic mode off/]

Seriously when the temperature outside goes down and inside temp differs greatly from the outside temp you canvas acts just like a glass of ice water on a hot humid day; water condenses on it.
The average human puts out almost a pint over eight hours. Two of you in the small area of a bunk end makes about a quart of water with no place to go but to condense on the colder canvas.
 Solutions.
Air circulation; if you keep air moving around the PU you ve got a much greater volume to hold the moisture. The bunk end fans work nice for this.
Open up some windows; even a crack or two can help exchange the moist air for dryer air.
Bunk end covers; believe it or not these work just as well in the cold as in the heat. Flip them over and they reflect the heat back into the PU and in the process keep the canvas nearer the inside temperature.
During winter camping we ve had to resort to " wallpapering"  the tops of the bunkends with bath towels to catch the moisture before it dripped on us. The towels would be either wringing wet or frozen solid come morning.

The OvermansEven if it is raining outside keep a window or better yet two open for fresh air exchange.  We have been dripped on in the past and now run the fan at night along with keeping at least two windows open.  Even having the curtains open help to keep the condensation down.

The OvermansYou could buy one of the fans on sale in the store here. You need to move that air around...
