sandykayakWe have dsl though Southwestern bell.Paying $39.95a month.  And as the one year expired they raised the rate $10 bucks a month. So we thought sense DW uses aol. She was paying something like $14.95 a month buy using netzero. Back when they had unlimited dial up for free.We thought about just going with aol dsl. Well we called them twice in fact. They said inorder to get aol dsl. You had to pay the full amount of aol at $23.95 a month. All they did was raise her monthly payment .And we haven t heard form them sense. I checked out Earthlinks dsl and it was a very good deal. Something like the first six months were $29.95 a month. After 6 Months it whent to $39.95 a month. But you also got a free dvd player or a scanner or a printer. If one of thease free prizes is about a$100 bucks they are really paying even less. I use Netscape on my computer. And i really like it. It has a farly good spam blocker and you can chose to lower the popup adds if you wan to.

sandykayakI ve been using AOL for about 4 years now.  I know what you mean about having a whole world out there aside from aol, but as several of you have said, there is no reason why I can t jump over to another search engine once I m online.  I also have a hotmail account that gives me access to all the sevices msn has to offer, and get alot of junk mail there.   I ve considered switching to a lower cost service, but have been too lazy to think about transferring everything over to some other format.   So, I like it, but I don t like it.  LOL  Does that help?

sandykayakI have Peoplepc. I got it when Ford was giving their employees free computers. I paid for a upgrade and got a better computer and printer. We had to sign up for three years of Peoplepc. It was only five dollars a month so I paid for the three years at that time. I have had nothing but trouble with them. I get kicked off a lot and sometimes can not even get online. I have e-mailed them but it has not got any better. I will go with another IPS when this one is up.

sandykayakwhat about screen names?  i ve been told that spammers use a software that comes up with the millions of combinations that can be used with the 26 letters of the alphabet.

therefore, i was advised to insert underscores or, at the very least, some numbers.

sandykayakI advise anyone to dump AOL.  They have been billing me for an AOL DSL account for 5 months on a phone number that is disconnected.  When I spoke to the customer dis-service department yesterday, they said the only way that account could be attached to the phone number was for someone to call from that phone number and give the billing address and permission to bill.  Therefore, they said, I was a liar or " someone"  went into my house and hooked it up.

And besides that, we don t have have DSL in our neighborhood!  We can only get high speed through cable or satellite!

 AOL?  AOsmell!

texacokatDon t know anything about AOL but I can vouch for Earthlink. Minimal problems over the years. I liked their availablity of an 800 number for dial ups when I was in remote areas. Very few of the areas I traveled to didn t have an Earthlink dial up number. Now I use Sprint DSL at home want to guess who the ISP is? Earthlink! Works for me![:D]
