 Hello,

I am on a great adventure, nice used popup with no manuals.
I went today and purchased a new Group 27 battery and box. This is to replace the next to dead Group 24 that came with the trailer. So far so good, The next step is to try to find a manual for the Todd Engineering Battery charger and power center installed on our 2001 Viking Sega 2107.
In searching the internet I have found many references to the company, now out of business, all coupled with the notification that the website no longer carries replacement parts or manuals.
Help, I need at least the fundamentals on the unit, or if by chance a fellow Viking owner still had their manual, I would gladly be willing to pay for the cost of copying.
I would hate to spend the money to replace what appears to be a fully functional unit only because I have no idea how to properly make it do it s job.

 Thanks,

 Cowboy

cowboyCowboy:  Plug your camper into 110vac power. Listen for a humming noise from the converter. Check the output power at the fuse panel (should be close to 13.2vdc or a little better). Then check the output power on the large red wire that goes from the converter to the battery (also should be 13.2vdc or slightly more). If these voltages are good then the converter is good. You might want to check the inline fuse at the battery to make sure it hasn t blown.

Having said that the Todd converters that Coachmen/Viking used in the 2000/2001 models were prone to early failures. Probably 1/3 of them failed within the 1 year warranty period and were replaced with Magna-Tek converters. Todd Engineering filed for bankruptcy and therefore replacement parts or warranty coverage is non existant...earl

cowboyI have the 2480ST and the Todd Engineering converter was a pice of %$#^p. It made so much electrical interference that I could not listen to a radio even on batteries if it was too close to the camper. This was an RF interference so you could not filter it out (suppose you could wrap it in lead flashing and leave a little vent hole[;)]) I changed mine at 1 week old then again just before my 1 year warranty expired. It never stopped working however it never worked properly.

As far as manuals, they didn t come with one, just a form to fill out for a lifetime warranty which got the old return to sender because they no longer existed.

 cowboyHi Byrd1,

Yes I would love for you to fax a copy of the manual. I tried to post yesterday, but the server would not let me in. I am trying to figure out if the converter auto senses the depth of charge and if it stops charging on it s own. Is it safe to leave the camper plugged in until the next trip?
I may be reached by fax during the day at 407.862.8312 or in the evenings at 407.208.0148.

 Thank you for the help.
