 Hi All,

Has anyone done any research/installing of garage lately? I guess I should of put prising in there also. I can not believe what they want for a door installed these days.
 Can you help?

whitestar505dh is changing our 3 single door garage to 1- 16  door and a passage door. have priced them at menards, a16  un insulated custom ordered one(cause we want different windows) is right at $ 555.00. he is going to install it, he has to change the headers and such. pretty much $$$$$$, but that is a bigbig door. i wouldn`t think an 8 footer installed would be that much, but i could be wrong. is there any way you can install it yourself and save?

cooncreekersLet me give you an idea of what they want here for a clopay door. Each door, I need two, runs about $700 installed with designed glass. This is on sale. These doors are 8x7 with a life time warrently.

whitestar505We installed two 8 x7  garage doors with 4 windows in each by ourselves in November. They were $292 each at Lowes. We chose not to have heavily insulated doors on our garage for our own reasons. These are R3 I believe- Wayne Dalton brand.

Installation took about a day for both. That s with removing the old wooden ones and installing new track. We never priced for installation.

kathybrjI have priced them at Lowes And they were $1800 installed. With the glass and the install they add around $400.00 per door. WOW! Was it eazy to install ?

Sure. We followed the enclosed instructions and they went up fine. This was the first time we had installed garage doors on our own. We tend to jump right into things. We are not the type of people to pay for labor unless it s absolutely something we can t do ourselves (which isn t a lot, we found out! [:D] )

Talk to the folks at your local home centers. They ll be helpful (or should be).
