Anyone have any feedback? Going in July. This is my first "pop-up" camping experience for more than one night. Also, how far in advance do you need to make reservations?

We stayed there for a week over springbreak last year.  It is a very nice place.  I don't know how far in advance you need to make reservations.  But you will have a good time.

I agree you will have a good time at Petit Jean.  We spent a week there last year.  There is an excellent pool to keep you cool.  You'll need that in July.  Fishing is fair in the little lake by the campground but if you walk down the side of the mountain (and I do mean DOWN), you can find a place called Blue Hole where I pulled in an excellent catch for dinner.  The only draw back is you need to hike back UP.  I spent an entire day fishing there and never saw another person.  There is a small pond at the base of the waterfall by the campground lake that looks inviting to fish... watch for snakes.

The campsite loops in the woods are excellent for a popup with lots of shade and decent separation from each other.  Not much in the way of stores nearby so bring what you will need with you or you'll get to pay some high prices at the little local store outside the park.
