....replace your propane fuel?  The only thing using propane on our camper right now is the stove.  Are we even making a dent into the propane in our tank?  Then, how much does it usually run to fill it back up?

 JemJen24JemJen24,

With our heat on we will use a tank of gas in two to three days. that includes everything being used. Stove, hot water etc.

Have you had a tank of gas filled lately? WOW! $21.00 and change.

JemJen24We don t have a furnace so our propane lasts quite a while.  We have hot water but that doesn t seem to use much and of course we cook on the stove.  Ours just ran out at Inks Lake a few weeks ago so that was about 2 years.  You can check your tank level by pouring some really hot water on the tank.  You should see frost at the level in the tank.

JemJen24If you don t use anything but stoves and hot water, you can actually run a full season on a 20lb tank.  Furnaces eat it.

Last year, it usually cost me about $4.10 to fill my tank.  Right now, I am sitting with 8lbs in one tank and a full 20 lbs in the other, and debating about whether to take 1 or 2 tanks in a couple of weeks - knowing if I burn the furnace, I will probably drain the one.

JemJen24In 56 continuous days of camping (summer of 2001), we filled each of two 20 lb. tanks twice (four tankfulls of propane).  They were not always empty when we filled them.

During that day, we were using the stove for one to two meals per day, and hot water for dishes.

We used the furnace about 5 nights during that time.

JemJen24Like you, we only use propane for the stove.  We re well into our 4th year and haven t re-filled it yet.

JemJen24We usually go through about 1 tank per season.  Usually a little less.  We don t use the furnace too much, use the water heater fairly frequently, and use the stove.  Luckily we ve never run out ona chilly night!! [:)]

 JemJen24Hi Jennifer,

After last season, running our frig and hot water heater, we used about « a tank of propane and U-haul charged us about $6.00 to fill it up.

 Not too bad.

 TrlrboyTrlrboy,

I you have some pocket cash, for about $26.00, you can get a gas reader for the tank. They work great, and takes the guess work out of knowing it is empty or not.[:)]
