The danged tongue wheel has come off a couple of times.  I ve always complained that it doesn t go up very high and how I wished I had the kind that tilts.

So...I did one of those things the guys are always suggesting [;)]....I looked at the manual...and lo and behold.....It says I m supposed to remove the WHILE TRAVELING.   What a PITA........

I guess that, instead of complaining, I should be grateful that the wheel hasn t come off on the highway.

Is this something all Jayco owners have to do?  Or is it just usn s with the " cheapest"  one?

sandykayakWe have always removed the wheel. Troulble is getting the blasted thing back on sometimes you have to line it up just right and then put it on and give it a half turn. Try lining that little bump up in the dark while dh is yelling at you to hurry up. [:@]
There has to be a better way. Tried making it with a  marker but you can t see that in the dark either. [>:]

sandykayakI lost a wheel on our first trailer and had to buy the add-on kind. I take ours off each time and I agree it s a PITA to put it back on. I never get it lined up right and I usually get my fingers greasy as well. My DW says I m always putting on wrong.

But I still love my Jayco

sandykayakThat is one reason I like my Coleman.  They come with a swing up jack with an attached wheel.

sandykayakDoesn t really seem like a big deal to me, push up a little and slight turn one way and it s off, push up and slight turn the other way and it s on! Seems to be easy enough plus it doesn t get full of road crud and remains fairly easy to roll!

sandykayakI didn t know there was any lining up and turning. I just slide it over the post, hold it while I crank the post down. Yikes, I m going to have to check this out tomorrow...

sandykayakI frequently camp with a guy who has a Rockwood, he also has the removable wheel. But since he also carries his dirt bikes in the back of his PU he has to leave his tailgate down.

To accommodate this he uses a drawbar extender and then removes the whole dang wheel jack...Then re-installs it at the site...

You do what you need to do to go camping...[:D][:D][:D]

 Skol...

Yes there is.
Our Jack broke the first time out with the new to us Jayco and the replacement ones did not fit the hole (20 some miles each way to and from the dealer, 2 trips each way, plus a side trip to KMart for tools). When in a campground you normally do not have the tools to make the hole larger.[:(]

We opted for the side bolt mounted jack, like the Coleman s have. The wheel is permanent, I do bungee the the handle to the gas tank, just in case I hit a dip or speed bump.  I also have to bungee the door as even locked, will swing open while driving.

Oh yes, even though we do not have the original jack, we still have the wheel...it is one of those things that Raymond just does not want to throw away because we may need it sometime[8D]
