Has anyone installed a type of lock on their PU door?  I know if a thief wants to get in, they could, but a lock may be a deterent if nothing else.

 Any opinions on this?

JemJen24Why lock it?  All you ve got to do is push the velcro aside and you re in.

Gone-Camping

JemJen24Mine came with a lock, but can t see good it does to use it! The only time that lock does anything at all, is perhaps when the trailer is closed, and then if anyone wants to get in it, all they gotta do is raise the roof! I d find something better to spend my money on![;)]

JemJen24we had a long hasp lock on ours so you couldn t pop the top or push in the door with a screw driver when it was closed, (we stored ours)we had a motion detector installed when the top was up, so if anyone crawled in from the wings or the door it gave off a very loud shriek for 30 seconds.

JemJen24LOL...I guess you re right Bob!  As usual.

Like the motion detector idea though.  Maybe I ll have Willard attach an air horn or raid siren (wink)

 Won t THAT be fun!

Turn Key

JemJen24Waste of time for reasons indicated.

JemJen24well you might think it s not worth it, or silly to have a pad lock on it, but when someone takes a  simple screw driver and breaks in, and messes with your stuff, or when its up and someone takes your tv and " no one saw or heard anything"   you might rethink it! I m not saying its going to stop anyone but  it will alert anyone near by that someone is breaking in. Hopefully detering them . The insurance company thought it was a good idea!  saved a couple of bucks on our insurance!

JemJen24Dee, for you it s a screwdriver. For most of us it just a simple push again some velcro. Pu s aren t as secure as TT s. We ve found over the years the only thing extra locks are needed is when it s in storage and you need to lock the roof down. When it s up it s like locking a tent; not much sense in it.

Camping Coxes

JemJen24Our Rockwood had no locking ability at all worth anything (again, velcro).  However, with our Coleman, when we leave for any extended time, we lift the stepper door closed against the door and lock it.  If someone wants to get in, they d have to really work at it to step over the locked stepper door, or undo the velcro and climb in that way, which is a high step to make to get into the trailer.  If that were being done, I would assume someone would notice the strange spectacle going on.

Also, you always greet your neighbors.  Say hello, offer them coffee.  That way they kind of notice you and will notice if someone other than those belonging to your campsite are messing with your stuff.
