As I have said before, when the DW and get off camping we tend to take a look at any camp grounds that are in the area.  Also, when we re in the Texas Hill Country you can bet we will end up in Fredericksburg, sooner or later (usually sooner).  Our trip in April was no exception and on this trip, we took the time to check out The Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park and Golf Course.  I must say that city parks usually do not attract me but I am looking for a place in or near Fredericksburg to put our PU for a planned fishing trip next spring.  I believe the LBJ Park will suit the bill just fine.

This park sits on 330 acres situated about two miles south of the downtown area off of Hwy. 16.  There are 90 sites set up in one large area, one smaller area and a horseshoe loop.  There are two shower house that are in clean and serviceable condition.  There is a playground in the camping area plus  two baseball fields, a picnic area, fishing and the golf course.  If I recall, camping is $18.00 per night and I think all sites are " full hook-up" .  Reservations can be made Monday through Friday, 9-6, by calling 830-997-4202.  No deposit is required.

This CG would not be my first choice for a long camping trip.  Much prefer Texas SP s.  But as a base for a 3-4 day fishing trip, this park could work fine.
