We have a 1990 Jayco Designer Series pop-top.  Lately we have noticed that the canvas and especially the mylar windows are extremely tight when the camper is raised although they both look to be in very good shape.  Last weekend while putting the camper down, we couldn t get one of the windows completely zipped up.  Upon forcing the zipper, we ripped out a 10"  long section of the seam where the zipper is sewed into the mylar window.  Can this be fixed easily?  Does anyone know why the window zippers would be so tight and hard to zip up?  Is there a way to fix them.

pkleinNot real sure why they are so tight, unless the bunk ends shepherds crooks are to tight.  But I can help with fisxing your window, because I have had the same problem twice.  Get a water bed or swimming pool repair kit.  Unstich the seam by the damaged area plus a little then apply the patch kit and trim to shape.  Each time I have done this I left just a little extra to loosen up the window.  Then Re-stiche the window to the patch.  I did it by hand very easily though  you could tak e it down and us a machine.  good Luck.

 pkleinGarrett,

Thanks for the suggestion.  We will give it a try.  I now think I may know why the windows on that side of the camper are so tight.  We just had the cable lift system repaired and when my husband measured the distance the roof is raised on all 4 corners, he noticed that each corner is up a different amount.  For instance the back rear right corner is 1-1.5"  higher than the back rear left corner.  It seems this is making the canvas (and therefore, windows) on one side of the camper much tighter than on the other side.  I think we need to take the camper back to the dealer and have them look into this and fix it if it is a problem.  Do you have any experience with the having the cable lift system repaired?

 Thanks again,
 Patricia
