Happy Camping guys, I hope you all stay warm and dry enough up there is the cold north.

Drizzling here right now (just south of the Mason Dixon line ya'all), but looks like it is drying out.

You are going to have better weather than we will.  We can't get to NS Lake by the end of check in, unless I don't work. :(   You can't make a reservation unless it is for 2 or more days.  Sorry guys.  Hope you have a great trip. :)

Andy how is Helga? :(

I'm back from Cape Henlopen, weather was dry, but VERY VERY Windy.
I had a choice, roll up the awning or dig out the awning tie down kit. I rolled it up.

Did not get out the stove or drop the bed(s), used the dinette and shared it with the laundry basket.

Cape Henlopen in an intersting place, notta 'lectric site in the whole place, water at some. I bought a new camera (Walmart 3 miles from the campground is a WONDERFUL thing :p  :o ) and took pictures,  water sites say paralell parking...they are NOT kidding, parking for sites are literally lines on the road, then there is the fire ring and picnic table. The ground is so sandy in these parts of the campground that the pavement camping is almost necessary.  I took some pictures of the better sites that are non water (but a LLOONNGG) walk to the restroom.

SP has a fishing pier that the campground fee pays for the park entrance (Delaware residence pay $2.50/car for use of the public areas of the park including fishing pier).

Showers were nice and warm! Took a walk around a "trail" where I could have climbed a WWII Watch tower (watching the DE Bay for Nazi boats), and they have started renovating Ft. Miles as a museum.

About a mile from the campground is the terminal for the Cape May Lewes Ferry. I found a place on deck that was not windy, the boat rolled a little more than gently on the white caps. Did not go into Cape May, but returned on the same ferry, this time saw a pod of dolphins at the Lewes Harbor entrance.

Sinuses are clear, I am a little more relaxed, but I sure do not like camping totally alone, could not persuade Raymond into coming down the hour and a half to the campground, and could not persuade you all to come on down...the same old excuse...live too far... :eyecrazy: I did not get too friendly with the four or five guys doing the male bonding/fishing thing, though they did have a nice fire going most of the time that they were there and not out fishing.  Took 3 trys to get the truck and trailer "just right" for hooking up, wood (under the jack) was damp and I cannot tug the trailer on damp wood so had to be perfect or close to it.

Hope the North/South People had a good time, I did further south, though just a little lonely.

Hi Tracy

We're back from North South Lake.
We went friday morning(Helga took a day off from work) and came back late saturday. Our son Mike and his girlfriend came up on friday night, too.
It was a chilly but sunny saturday and the fall foliage was beautiful.
We all went on a hike ( Rick,Steph,Helga,Mike Shaina and I,and off course, our four legged baby's,Sabrina,Rocco and Charlie).
Helga has been sick most of the week, but decided to go on the last trip of the year anyway(she didn't want to disappoint me).But when you don't feel well,it's no fun to be camping, especially when it's chilly out there. So we cut it short one day.To bad you couldn't join us.
Can't wait for next spring to come!
Hope all is well, talk to you soon.

THE LAZY CAMPING TRIP AT NORTH LAKE

Well this trip had to be the laziest we have ever been camping... LOL! We didn't cook dinner Friday night, we went to the diner in town and had a wonderful meal. What a special they had - Andy and I got steak, grilled chicken, AND shrimp combo, and Stephie and Helga had chicken AND eggplant parm with spaghetti. I made a small fire just to keep warm and we didn't even sit in front of it. Heck we didn't even unpack our folding camping chairs the whole weekend. We slept till 11am Saturday and woke up to see Andy and family leaving for a late breakfast at the diner. Stephie made me breakfast (YUMMY Spam, bacon, sausage, french toast & eggs - it tasted good but I could feel my arteries clogging, lol) At that time Andy came back and we hiked up to the mountain house site. It was the clearest I have ever seen!! When we got back Andy popped down, we were more lazy and layed down. Andy came over to say goodbye... At that point when Andy left I made a HUGE fire with all my wood, wood that Andy gave me, and wood I took from the tenters that left that couldn't stand the cold up there. We popped down as the sun was setting, sat in front of the fire on the picnic table (too lazy to take out the camping chairs), and was going to cook dinner on the Coleman stove, but decided that would be too much work, so we headed off to the diner once again for dinner. I drove down the "long way" and decided I was too tired to drive anymore, so Stephie towed the entire length of 28 to the traffic circle, and then all the way home down the Thruway. It was beautiful weather the entire weekend, it's just too bad we were too lazy to be out in it!! I don't know why we were all "blah" for this trip... Maybe it was just too cold.  In fact, it was so cold that I actually had on jeans, a flannel, and a sweatshirt.  No shorts and T-shirt - so you know it HAD to be cold! :yikes:

PS - I put up some pics on my webshots under the "North Lake Trips" section...

Rick, that sounds like my weekend, ate at the diners (several are in Rehoboth and Lewes), Friendly's and Cracker Barrel. Just could not see me cooking out side in the wind. Once the wind died down  afternoon, it was not too bad.

hey I got you beat, I did bring out the chair, did not sit in it very long, actually used to dry my towel from the shower. But did not get a fire going, took no wood (it was all wet, and I burned all that was in the truck at Little Pines). It would have cost me a fortune to have bought the wood at the campground for a real fire.

Did have to buy an fleece (The same time I bought the new camera, I just love Walmart) and a knit pull over in a fall print. Did not get the kayak out. Only chipped one finger nail this trip (one of my co-workers says I have a choice, either be a girly-girl or a camping girl...she thinks I cannot have both and do all the set up and take down).

How about Cape Henlopen SP in the Spring?? Any takers??

Andy I hope Helga is feeling better.  Rick I hope Stephie's leg is healing.  Paula I wish we could have joined you.  I really need to camp.
