Has anyone been to Hermit Island recently.  Were thinking of going next year.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Also, suggestions on a site you may have preference over.  We have a 5 and 8 year old and we love to eat LOBSTER.   We are all to familiar with Jersey beaches and visited Acadia Park last year and we keep heading back this way.

spiritWe haven t been able to get there in a couple of years, BUT we love it there! Be warned, the graffiti on the bathroom wals used to be a bit much! We ve stayed on site 50, on sites 1 & 2 of Shelter Valley and Site 7 on Western Reach. We try to stay in areas that have real bathrooms as opposed to pit toilets. Make reservations as early as possible, Jan 2nd if staying a week, March 1st if staying less, as it fills up fast.
It may not be for everyone but it certainly has its following! New this year is " no Dogs"  after 3 years of cleaning up after dogs when we got to our site, I can appreciate this!
The lobster and steamers we ve had there have been the BEST. We buy them from a little roadside stand on the way down 209 from Bath, Me. Although you can buy them for about the same price right at the CG.
There are plenty of Deer on the island. Nice hiking trails along the rocks and cliffs over Casco Bay. and something like 7 beaches to enjoy. Some you have to hike to so they are very secluded and peaceful.
I m starting to sound like a Hermit Island commercial, but if you d like more info, please email me!
