DH and I are on the hunt for our next camping trip.  Unfortunately, it looks like we won t be able to get beach side until after Labor Day, so we re thinking lake side instead.  There s always Casitas, but we d like to try something new.  We re thinking about Lake Cuyamaca, near Julian.  I know a number of you have stayed there.  What sort of amenities does it have? We like water and electric if at all possible.  Also, how wicked is the drive?  The directions say the 79 off the 8 out of San Diego.  Is that hilly?  Dave won t drive anything that even remotely climbs, given the gutlessness of our Trooper.  Thanks! [:D]

griffsmomWe stopped by there a couple of years ago, while scoping out potential campgrounds for our Indian Princess group. We weren t looking at it from a poping up perspective, but rather a group camping perspective.

It is a pretty area. The state park campground is nice, I don t believe that there are any hookupus.

As I understand it, the fishing is good!

My suggestion for driving there, if towing, is to go south to the I-8, then north on 79 to Cuyamaca. I recall that it was much easier than going the more direct way, through Julian.

 Enjoy!
