Well we had a great trip to Lake Bob Sandlin this weekend.  It took us some doing to get out of town though.

First I had to go to work for a couple of hours in the morning.  Then I came home to hook up the PU.  Went to move the DW car out of the drive way (it was blocking the side of the garage the PU is in) and the darn thing was dead[:@].  I connected the battery charger and off to the store I went for the food.  Came home and DW took other car to have lunch with girlfriend.  Got her car started and moved it and hooked up PU.  As I pulled it out of the garage, I heard a pop[:o]...Stopped and walked back and inspected garage...pulled off the molding on the side[>:], checked camper and could only see some paint on the marker light[:)], on further looking I noticed that the marker light was much lower than where the molding had ripped off...then noticed the awning bag[:(], must have been much closer to the edge than I thought...ripped a 2-3 inch tear in bag[:@], luckly there was no tear in the awning, so I guess with a little more duct tape the PU now has even more character than before.[8D]

Next I load up and the DW is supposed to be home by 3pm as my DS gets out of school then and we are leaving right after that.  At 2:50 DW calls me and tells me that she can t get the car started (this is the other car), she mentions that she thinks she left the lights on.  I have a friend go over and get that one started.

By the time she gets home and we depart we are already about 1 hour behind schedule.

But we had a great time anyway and I decided to stay an extra day and not come home until today.

Hope everyone else had a great holiday weekend too.

Thanks again to JemJen24 for allowing us to use her reservations.

JimiJam44We just got back from our first camping trip this year and we had a great time.  Things started out rocky but got better!  We went to Bayshore Campground at Lake Pymatuning -- on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. We got to the campground after dark Friday evening in a pouring down rain -- and I DO mean POURING!!!  The security guard backed my camper in place because I still can t back the darn thing up - but I am getting better![&:]  Then my granddaughters and I popped it up in the rain.  We were soaked to the skin!  I wanted to get the girls warmed up so I plugged in two electric heaters and blew a fuse (so I thought) -- so we took off our dripping wet clothes in the dark, dried off, crawled in our sleeping bags and went to bed!  About 2 AM the girls were asleep and I decided I could figure out how to get the electricity back on so I got up, found the fuse box and discovered we had just thrown a breaker switch and I took care of that, plugged ONE heater in and we had both heat and light!!!  Then I went over to the campground bathroom because I didn t have our port-a-pottie in the popup hooked up yet, used the restroom and was washing my hands when in walked a man!  He stopped dead in his tracks, said " Excuse me"  and started to back out.  Then he stopped and said " Actually, ma am, I think you re in the wrong one" !!!  And I WAS -- I was in the mens restroom!  But........................things got better after that!!!
I got the shower and port-a-pottie in our camper hooked up the next morning so we had our OWN restroom and I didn t have to worry about using the wrong one!!!   Saturday and Sunday were beautiful days -- a little cool in the evening but just nice for a campfire.  We had a nice fire both evenings, cooked out, made S mores, visited with my sister-in-law, my niece and their families, sat with our feet in the lake and skipped rocks, watched movies, laughed, had fun, and made memories!!!  GREAT weekend!

JimiJam44Wow, must have been the weekend for strange happenings!  DH was going to get an early start and take the camper out to a local state park to beat the traffic.  My oldest daughter was running carpool, she picked her her daughter, little sister and me from school/work and was to drive us out to Babler SP.

I get a call before I left work from DH saying he was having transmission trouble.  GREAT!  We are on our way and he is crawling, spitting transmission fluid out along the way.  Thank goodness for cell phones, he called me and told me he was broke down just as you turn on the campground road and for me to stop and pick up a case of transmission fluid.

We find him totally blocking half of the main road and the road into the campground.  He finally got it to our site, we waved my daughter goodbye and started setting up.

I didn t know the water pump broke in the RV so Tim brought a protable pump, worked great but it was a hassle.  We only had electric hookups so he had to keep toting over water, just plain hassle but survivable.  Our dog Oscar and my mom s dog Eddie somehow got the trailer door open sometime between 2 am - 5:30 am on early sat am and must have had an adventure running the campground!  They were there when I opened the door at 5:30 am just a panting up a storm!  We slid the locking bar across sat and sun evening so it wouldn t happen again.

Tim drove the van a little after that and at least the transmission fluid quit leaking but he knows it s shot.  So, how did we get home?  Tim called his son, he came and towed us and we followed.

Things weren t so bad until Robbie (DH s son) got pulled over for running a red.  Luckily DH was a former cop and talked to the officer and how it was a judgement call, stopping 25 ft trailer and all and how he was doing us a favor and the officer didn t ticket Robbie.

All in all, it was a great trip!  We had a bad storm sat but we were snug and cozy watching movies and eating microwaved popcorn.  I made my daughter s favorite chicken parmesan in a Dutch Oven as her birthday dinner and Tim picked up a cake.  The girls rode and rode and rode their bikes.  Katie wants to just live at the campground!

I m just hoping the next trip is a little less eventful!
