The Robinsons

We have a 2002 Santa Fe.  In the cabinet to the left of the fridge, there are three wires coming out of the back of the cabinet.  There is a white-plug-thingy on the end, so they re not exposed, but they re just laying on the camper floor (inside the cabinet).  I asked my husband if he knew what they were for, and he didn t.  So I looked through the owner s manual and couldn t find anything about  em there either.  It seems like they would be important, or they wouldn t be there (maybe?), but they don t seem to be contributing to anything except getting in the way of the stuff I have down there![:@]  Anyone know what these are for?  Thanks!

The RobinsonsCan t say for sure, but they might be for an accessory / appliance that was not installed.
 That s my guess.

The RobinsonsThe cabinet to the left of the fridge is where the furnace would be installed.  That is either the prewire for the thermostat or the 12v DC source.

The RobinsonsNow, you re my kind of woman -- a little" white-plug-thingy"  is exactly how I would describe something!!!  [:D]  (I know that isn t helpful but I just couldn t resist!!!)

The Robinsons

 C. HainsI couldn t decide between " doohicky" , " jobbie" , " whatchamacallit" , or " thingy" .  I figured " thingy"  was the most universal way to say " I HAVE NO EARTHLY IDEA WHAT I M TALKING ABOUT!"   [:D]

Why am I not surprised that you d have the answer for me?![;)]  If I already have a 12v DC source underneath the a/c outlet, can I be pretty certain that s for the thermostat for the non-existent furnace?  I would love to have a furnace!  Do they come that way (pre-wired) or is it possible that a furnace was in it and then taken out?  (I m 99% sure the dealer said it had a furnace when we bought it).  There is also a " hatch"  of sorts cut out of the back of the cabinet - in fact, that s where I hung the wires (by their little, white plug-thingy), to put them up and out of the way.

 Thanks for your help!

The RobinsonsI would say that if there is a hole in the side of the pop up inside this cabinet then it did have a furnace.

The thermostat is located on the front side of the rear dinet seat, near the floor.  There should be a litttle indentation where it is installed.  Are there screwholes on the paneling inside that little cubby hole?  If so they probably toook the thermostat out.

 The RobinsonsBuffi,
Love your sense of humor -- hope you get that thing figured out!  If anyone can help you -- these guys can and they are very tolerant of those of us who don t know the terminology (or what the heck we re doing -- for that matter!!!)!  Trust me, I know![8D]

The RobinsonsI was told by our dealer that it was pretty easy to install a furnace if we decide to later. He said the hardest part was venting it properly, but otherwise could basically be " plugged"  in. I m not sure if ours has the back of the cabnet cut out or not, but I can look for you tomarrow night when I pop it up to pack LOL.

FYI Our dealer quoted us approx $450 to have one installed, not sure how much the furnace itself costs.

The RobinsonsWe have those wires in our Sun Valley and we have the furnace so maybe it s not that.  We don t know what they are either but everything works.  We don t have the hot water option so maybe it s that.

The RobinsonsOk, I looked when I was packing up today, and we also have the wires, and it looks like a  hole was cut out and then a board put back in place with caulking around it. When we looked at ours it was brand new with the plastic, and cable ties around the latches, so I m pretty sure the dealer didn t have a heater in it, and take it out. I m " guessing"  they re made that way so it s easier to put one in if you want.

I do know FOR SURE that to the left of the fridge is where the heater goes, because we will probably want  to add one someday so we asked about it a couple times.
