 Hello all!!

I just bought this great battery box at Bass Pro Shops...  www.basspro.com  Item# 38-510-442-00  It has external connections, an LED battery charge level indicator, a 12V cigarette lighter socket with built in 10A circuit breaker, a really nice big handle, and a tough strap to hold it to the trailer tongue...  all for LESS THAN $30!!  Click here to see it:

 I hope that link works...

copcarguyNice box, but two things I wish they gave the size so you d know what size battery would fit and after having problems with ruining battery because they ran dry I really don t want a box I can charge the batttery without opening it up. Made up one of those and I ll bet I ruined three batteries before I had sense enough to get rid of it so I have to take the top off before charging so I d look at the electrolyte.

copcarguyI think that s a pretty cool idea, ccg!! Like Mike said tho, wish they d give the specs as to what class battery can be put in there.

 copcarguyHello again all...

I don t charge the battery in the box - I just don t think it s safe.  This doesn t count the charge line from the truck when I m towing it.  Of course it s getting " charged"  when I m towing, but for the " real"  charge after a camping trip, I remove it from the box before hooking up the charger.  As far as the size of the box, I have a Group 24 Interstate battery and there is about 1.5 extra inches on either side of the battery.  I also had to re-drill wider holes for the battery box L brackets to fit the new box...  If anyone would like the dimensions I guess I could measure it.  [;)]  The built in LED battery guage works great...  Hope this helped!
