How often do you have the popup open in the driveway during camping season? Is it better to be open or closed, especially in rainy weather?

Turn Key

campingeyedocUsually open up 3-6 times a year for cleaning/maintenance.  Since it s just me and DW we don t " camp"  in the driveway as some with kiddos do.  Cute idea though.

You don t want to leave your PU open all the time.  Sun, wind and rain is a lot harder on your tenting then it is on the hard top.  If your not using it and the tenting is dry, it s best to close your PU.

campingeyedocWhere is the POLL.  This is the POLL forum, right?

campingeyedocWe pop-up in the back yard for company, cleaning, packing and anything else my husband can think of because 60 days a year camping is not enough.

campingeyedocOccasionally.  We pop up when we winterize and again when we de-winterize.  The only other time is if it is raining when we pack up.  Otherwise, we get everything packed and cleaned before we can just back it into the parking spot.

campingeyedocI sure would if I had a driveway!  LOL..  we have to rent a space a couple of miles away to park it.  [:(]

campingeyedocWe do it. Also our new house due to be complete in the next 60 days has a 9 door in the basement and enough room to pop up in the " Camper"  room. Great to clean or stock camper in incliment weather.[:D][:)]

campingeyedocWe popup to pack for a trip, and clean after we get back, also when we winterize and open up in the spring. Ocassionaly when the relatives come with all the kids we pop up and let the kids camp out in the driveway! they love it and the adults get some peace and quiet at night![:D]

Us too, although before our last big rally, we popped up 2 days before the trip (we were so excited to go!) and our HOA wrote us a " notice"  letting us know that our camper could only be at our home a max of 3 days.  Yeesh!  It s obvious that no one on our HOA owns a pop up!  [;)]

campingeyedocWhen we lived at the lake, I popped up in the yard and it was a great night.

When we spend the night at MIL s, we take Jiffy with us.  Nice to have my OWN bed.[;)]

I understand this. This is why my new house being built has a PU garage.

campingeyedocWhat a coincidence that you should ask.  Our PopUp has been " Popped Up"  for a week in the driveway.   We popped it last week to get it ready to go camping over the last weekend, but circumstances beyond our control kept us home.   So, Saturday evening, we set the patio table and umbrella up on the green mat, pulled the gas grill over and did some steaks on the grill, sat out and played Yahtzee (4 games) and just relaxed.   We aren t going to be able to go this weekend either, but the PU is staying Popped, maybe we ll camp in the yard, and have chicken or fish on the grill.

campingeyedocI guess you haven t seen our driveway.   Our front driveway is so steep that I use it for identification at the post office.   All of the mail carriers know exactly which house is ours.

We have a back driveway that is less steep.  Since we don t use it for anything else, we re going to get the guy with the backhoe to turn it into a 25  trailer pad. We should be able to pop-up there nicely.
