I have only had my Jayco Qwest 12A for 2 weeks now and have popped up and down 6 times. The last time, tonight, the roof would lower unevenly when it got to about 3/4 down, the front down more than the back and their would be slack in the cable.  I would the crank up and would go up evenly but going down it would do the same thing.  I pushed down with my hand a little each side until I got it down all the way.  Does anyone have an idea what may be happening. Plan on calling the dealer tomorrow.

Joe BuskirkMaybe your cable has stretched.  You may need to adjust it.

Joe BuskirkUsed to be a common problem. Slack in the cable means something in the lifters is binding. I had one PU that one person HAD to shake the roof while the other cranked down to keep the telescoping parts of the arms from binding up. On another you had to lower about half way then while tucking in the canvas you had to pull down on the lower parts of the arms to get them to seat.

 Joe BuskirkJoe,

Someone told me about the trick of giving the crank a turn or two in the opposite direction when you get the top down.  This is upposed to tighten and keep the cable aligned.  Since I ve gotten in the habit of doing this my roof goes down much more evenly. The other thing would be to check your bunk ends to make sure you have the canvas spread out evenly.

 Hope that helps.

 Joe BuskirkJoe,

Let more slack out of it. I had the same problem and had the dealer on the phone outside and they said to let more slack out and it worked fine... I felt kind of stupid, but I ve been called worse!

Ours was the same, the back stayed up (only a little bit...1"  or so) and the front went down all the way. Once I let out more slack, it settled right down. Once it is down and locked, don t forget to tighten the cable back a click or two.
