Does anybody have a solution for mounting a 2-bike rack someplace other than on the top of the PU or the TV?  We are accumulating pre-retirement toys and have a folding Portabote that fits perfectly alongside the AC on the PU.  We use ratchet straps for it.  It has a low profile and doesn t catch the wind and doesn t budge at highway speeds, so we want to keep it there.

We are concerned about trying to get bikes on and off the roof of the TV as we get older.  Is it possible to mount something behind the TV or the PU?  Any suggestions?

reallygreenAnything mounted to the rear of your Santa Fe will decrease tongue weight and possibly contribute to sway.

How about a Draw Bar bike rack?  Several manufacturers make them for 2 bikes and this way you carry them between teh TV & PU.

reallygreenUsing same rack as Tim5055 shows on link.  We like it and it seems to be pretty well made.  We have one bike that can cause interference with the tongue when turning due to its unusual design.  But I d rather take the front tire off it than have to put it up on the roof of the TV.

We bought ours at Camping World this Srping over the internet.

reallygreenI use a small folding Rubbermaid step ladder to get our bike on and off the roof.  It  makes it much easier.

reallygreenThanks to all!  I knew there must be a solution and I knew this was the place to find it.  Is there anything this group does not know?

KellyAnother solution is to have a draw bar on the front of your Durango, and carry the bikes up there.
Means you can keep an eye on them, and do not have to unload them immeaditly when you hit camp, like we have to with our roof mounted ones.
