Whoohoo...just found out the deal went through.  We ve signed the papers and will pick up our brand new 2003 Coleman Mesa on Saturday!  The dealer is getting it completed with all the goodies this week and have us scheduled for a several hour newbie tour on Saturday morning!   LOL... They said we ll know all about it after they are done!   We ve been looking at popups for about 4 years but neither of us have had a vehicle that would pull one.  DH bought a new F150 4x4 SuperCrew in October so we ve been on the lookout more seroiusly this time!  I can t wait!!!   I ve been camping most of my life..growing up first in a tent then a popup. But the DH and I have always tent camped. I love tent camping but can t stand the humid weather in Northern Virginia so we don t do it much in the summer. I can take the cold, but not the heat! We figure in this area with the summer heat and humidity that maybe with the popup and AC we ll be able to camp even more.  I m so excited I can t stand it!   Even harder will be waiting to take it out for two weeks!  AND we aren t allowed to have them where we live so it has to be stored in a rental lot.  Guess i ll be spending a lot of time playing in the storage lot!  ;>

I m sure we ll be full of questions and trying desparately to avoid SPUTs!   I ve been reading this site like crazy for awhile now!  Just am glad it s all finally official!!!

 YEA!!!

vjm1639Congratulations! You will definitely have a blast with your new toy!

TheWallRocks

 vjm1639Congrats..... you will enjoy it.

My top two SPUTS that you do not want to do........ not chocking both the front AND rear of each PU tire.  I didn t, and swore that it could only roll backwards, and as soon as I raised the trailer it rolled forward and put a big scratch in the bumper.  #2 was forgetting to unplug the 7-pin.  Snapped the cover right off the TV outlet.

 Have fun!

vjm1639Congratulations on the new PU.  I love that you will be able to access the refrig even when the top is down.[:)]

vjm1639

vjm1639Oh wow..I hadn t even thought of the fridge aspect!  Another plus!  :>

NCSunshine

 vjm1639Congratulations!!!

 Welcome Aboard the Pop-Up Railroad[;)]

Enjoy your new " baby"  and here s wishing you many happy camping trips[:)]

Do you mind saying where you are from(just the state if you would feel more comfortable) so that the rest of us can find out if you are in our neighborhood?

 HAPPY CAMPING!!!

vjm1639

vjm1639Thanks to everyone for the welcome.  WallRocks, the first thing on my list of things to buy is 4 chocks!  LOL...  We ve read so many horror stories of things just like that happening.  DH is looking at the little two way walkie talkies so I can guide him in more easily...(or as someone else said....so everyone can t hear me getting frustrated!)  but  then, he likes any excuse for a new " gadget"  [;)]....  I d like the reflecting end covers, and maybe the BAL leveler??  Anything to make this easier. I m mostly worried about hooking the camper up to the truck and being able to back it up!  LOL....

NCSunshineState... I added the state I m from (took me awhile to figure out how to add it)....  Are you having Sunshine this year???? We ve almost forgotten what that is!  Rain predicted for Saturday when we pick it up! YUK!!!

vjm1639Good luck with your new purchase.  We have learned so much from everyone at PUT.  We still make mistakes but we have learned everyone does.  Our only problem is with our oldest graduating and all of the weekends seem to be booked.  We are reading more about camping then doing it....but that will change!
 Have fun out there!!![:)][:)]

SkipP

vjm1639Congratulations! Nice camper you got there! We just took delivery of our new Mesa two weeks ago [:D]. Really like the layout. If you get a BAL leveler, you ll only need two wheel chocks as the leveler will act as a chock for one side....and it gives the camper a little more stability as well. If the camper didn t come with one...be sure and look into a light for the galley " bump-out" . There s already a recepticle in the roof so it s just a matter of plugging it in. Enjoy that new smell!

vjm1639

vjm1639Thanks Skip! Nice to hear from someone with the same PU!   [:)]   I just can t wait until Saturday when we actually are scheduled for our walkthrough with the dealer. These guys are terrific and we ve been playing around on their lots for years. We had been looking at all sorts of campers for several years and this layout just stuck with us as our favorite for the past couple of years.   Our kids are grown and mostly gone now and aren t that interested in camping much anymore, so it s just the two of us and the pooch.  This U shaped sofa area was the most comfortable for us as just a place to sit and relax if you have to be stuck inside.   Bill and I have only done tent camping together and really enjoy the outdoors.   I can t wait now to take this thing out!  Looks like we ll have to wait another week at least though.  Oh well...it ll give me time to maybe play in it and make lists of things to buy!  hehehe

 vjm1639And now the adventure begins...................................Congratulations
 Happy Camping

vjm1639

vjm1639LOL...now the adventure begins in a different version....   I ve been camping since I was a kid although probably more frequently in the past 8 years since DH and I have been together.   I really have/had  no problem tent camping and love being away from everything.  Besides getting out for regular  camping trips whenever possible, every Fall for several years our vacation has been go to cabins you have to literally hike into back in the Shenandoah mountains...you have to backpack everything in, stay in real old log cabins..no electricity, no phones, outhouse only, get your water from the spring (and filter it of course), cooking done on your fireplace and one small one burner backpacking stove. Only the forest wildlife (deer, chipmunks, birds, more deer, and the occasional bear) for neighbors.  It s awesome and soooooooooooo nice to get away from it all.   This will be a fancier adventure for us! LOL...  Hopefully it will extend our camping season as I can t take the heat and humidity and DH is having more and more of a problem sleeping in the tent with his back bothering him.  So....now we will just camp with a little more style.  I guess years of camping like this have me chuckling at the potty in the camper conversations here!
