I am thinking about buying the Pop Up Gizmos A/C brace and was wondering if anyone has installed one and what do they think of it... is it worth getting?
 Thanks

Triffid

BaysideBruce[:D] I ve had mine for about 2 years...Don t know if it helped or not; but there are no cracks in the housing........Triffid

BaysideBruceConsidering the number of A/C shells that I see on the side of the road and the fact they cost over $100 each, I would consider the brace cheap insurance.

BaysideBruceBrace looked like a good idea to me.  On old PUT site some people had made their own braces and sounded simple enough.  I made one myself too and installed last summer.  We pulled the PU thru MN, SD, CO and back to IL at highway speeds and often in high winds with no shroud problems.  It s just a little peace of mind, I m glad to have the brace on there.

BaysideBruceMy cover came apart two weeks ago while traveling on I-81 in Pa.  Found a used one at JR.s RV Repair in Gettysburg for $40.  Whaaahoooo!  I need to put something in place so this one doesn t break!  Do any other brands (Carrier etc.) have this problem or just the Colemans?  Hey...at least they don t sag like their roofs :)

Just Coleman s.  Remember Fleetwood makes the faulty roofs, not Coleman.

BaysideBrucewe recived ours today, looks simple enough to install, i must say i was a bit suprised as there is not much to it for the price, but sure beats having to buy a new cover...

Actually Coleman doesn t make the A/C either.  It s another " licensed"  product.

BaysideBruceI would say Coleman should be more careful about which products they attach their name to :)

BaysideBruceWe ve had our brace for about a year now and we have no cracks. It took about 15 minutes to install.

BaysideBruceIf your cover is shaking, I d get the brace before you have to get a new cover.  It works.

BaysideBruceThanks to everyone that replied.  I just installed the A/C brace yesterday.  We are going camping next weekend so I ll see how things shake out (or don t shake).  Thanks again for all the recommendations.

 BaysideBruceBaysideBruce,

I have a 2003 Utah and I have seen no cracks yet. Have ordered a brace just incase. At one time if I recall correctly the screws had a little rubber washer in-between the screw and the unit which was to absorb the shock of road  use. Don t see that on this one.
