their due credit on these travel and RV shows?  I thought I heard somewhere that PU ping was on the rise since 9/11, but they never show the new PU s or features or anything on these shows.  When you see an ad for a PU...it s generally by some stream in the middle of nowhere that you could probabally never be able to camp at anyways cause either the park service would never allow it, or tv restrictions (you would need a 4x4).  When they shoot these ads..it almost looks like they airlifted the PU to it s location cause you never see a vehicle...or even tire tracks in the grass.  When they were at the one RV show last year, and they were featuring RV s...they spent like 30 seconds on PU s.  Even 1 show/special on PU s would be nice.

rednekrubbrduckNope, they want to make money.  That s why they told us that we would most likely upgrade to a real RV a later date.  Maybe PUT and the manufacturers should have a show?  They could feature all the mods people have done; show the benefits of a smaller rig, and generally toot our collective horns.

Turn Key

rednekrubbrduckAgree with you " Duck"  and wish we could get what you propose.  Unfortunatly, the shows and advertising go to the TT s, 5 ers and MH s because that s where the big money is.  Hate to say it but we re " small change" .

whitestar505

rednekrubbrduckAs I always say " Money Talks And Boloney Walks" . These large RV s are big bucks in this country. The bigger the RV the bigger the TV and so on.[: (]

MtnCamper

rednekrubbrduckIt s easy math, Would you rather make commission on a $10K popup, or a $100K MH?

My dealer sells both, but he treats me like an actual customer. What else can you say?

rednekrubbrduckI hear what you are saying, but I must say that at the Hartford RV show, there were a lot of pop-up s.  There was big bucks going on there because almost everyone that you walked by there were people buying them.  I guess it is all in what you like.  I personally like my TT but  like to camp in PU s also.  I like your idea about PUT doing a show and tooting everyone s horns.  There are some great ideas on this board, it would be real nice to see them given their due.

rednekrubbrduckUnfortunately, In our country, " Size Does Matter."   I went to rvsales.com and most of what was on there was MH,  TT and 5th wheel.  People are buying the big ones but also selling them more than PUs.  There were only two PUs compaired to 100s of the others.  Maybe the economy will entice people to go with the smaller camper than with the big.  Could be why PU sales are on the rise.

Gamecock Camper

rednekrubbrduckSize matters, as in the size of the commission earned.

Jeffrey

rednekrubbrduckI ve never seen a RV show, of any kind.
I guess they must be on cable?

Are we talking on Television or a show the other kind of show??
 I guess I m confused again.[:o]

SuZone

rednekrubbrduckDH and I visited the local RV show this past Saturday, and we were SOOOO disappointed!  That s the last time we re spending the admission price to any RV shows.  They had a total of 5 popups, everything else was large, large trailers, 5th.wheels, and buses! From now on, I m surfing the net if I want to see anything new with popups![;)]

Starcraft Dad

 rednekrubbrduckJeffrey,
The one I watch is on the Outdoor Channel, I believe and is cable.  I seem to miss most of them but I caught the one on sunday.  Out of all the ones I have seen (which is not to many) not once have I yet to see a PU segmant.  It is dissapointing.[:(]

rednekrubbrduck

rednekrubbrduckI catch it on the same cable channel now and then.  The Coleman place I got mine does have a lot of PU s in his inventory.  Sounds like it vary s from dealership to dealership.  There seems to be some that you can tow with a car (though they are rather small), but are good priced also.  Granted they make more money off the 5th wheels and motorhomes, but if they increased their inventory of PU s and sold more, it would seem they would compensate for that.  Same goes for the RV shows.  If they would showcase more PU s, it would get the word out there.  Right now they seem to only showcase the big rigs, which are so expensive, or need a big TV, which puts off the average joe who may be thinking about it.  The television show almost make it seem like only the affluent, or retired person who has sold their home to make this lifestyle change, can go RV ing.  Look at the PUT Rally last year.  They sent out a tv crew cause this kind of rally seemed " unique"  (though I could be mistaken on this one cause I wasn t there..just judging from the posts).  Just seems to me that they re all missing out on an untapped market.  Then again..if it caught on...we ll slowely be nudged outof our favorite camping spots.
