 Hi all...

I know I really don t need to worry about this, cuz we have the big dually truck, but I am looking at trading in my old explorer for a  93 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a towing package and I was wondering it there are any towing concerns with this vehicle just in case we HAD to go camping and our Pickup was broken down!

The Cherokee is the Limited 4 wheel drive V-8 model.

ambrosiaWe tow with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, 6 cyl, and about the only time you even notice the trailer is going up a steep hill. Even then it just lugs down, kicks down a gear and takes off!
The 6 cyl is rated at 5000 lbs GVWR and the V-8 is 6500 lbs GVWR. I believe there is also a limit of 25 feet or something as well, but I don t think you ll have any problem with a pop-up!

ambrosiaYou shouldn t have a problem, so long as the Grand is in good shape. The output of both the basic engines on the Grand Cherokee has been upped since the  93 model year. If you were thinking of towing very much with the older version of the straight 6 engine they used back then, I d worry a little about mountains/accleration/etc. that was fixed in  99

But the V-8 was solid then and now, so you shouldn t have a problem at all.

 Enjoy!

ambrosiaI have a 94 Grand Cherokee (same as the 93) with the 6 cyl, and tow a 24  Hybrid TT with it. It does real well, but uses a lot more gas with the TT than it did with the PU. I lose speed going up mountains, but did so with the PU too, but can maintain hiway speeds (65+) with the TT behind it, even up mild to moderate inclines, only the steepest hills slow me down. The TT weighs about 700# more than my Coleman PU.

You have the V8 version, so the only real concern you ll have is rear end sag, the JGC doesn t do well in that dept. However, a good WDH does the trick really well. Other than that, it should tow the PU without a problem!!!
