I have an 02  Coleman Taos and am looking into purchasing a new roof top ac unit.  First of all I would appreciate any suggestions on models....Carrier vs. Duo-therm vs. Coleman.....Also I would appreciate suggestions on approximately how much to pay...Probably installed because I don t want to take a chance on cutting the roof myself...I ll leave that to a professional...I live in sotheastern PA and would like to know a fair price..Thanks to all for your responses.[:)][:)][:)]

TaoscopWhen I had my Coleman Laredo back in 96, the dealer put on a " Mini-Mach"  A/C unit.  Originally, they told me they don t normally put A/C on units that small, but they did and I was happy they did.  You may want to be mindful of the weight of the A/C relative to the size of the Taos roof.  Don t want to overload it.

TaoscopBefore the Westlake, we had a Taos that the dealer put a Coleman Mach III on it.  Worked Great!  I would advise the bunk end covers.  Also if you do get the Coleman, spend the extra dollars and buy the cover brace by popup gizmos.  We now have a Carrier AC/Heatpump on the westlake and love it so I could recommend both.  Even though you have a smaller trailer DO NOT get the small A/C s...ie 7500btu.  Get the 13500.  You will be glad you did.

TaoscopI m going along with the group and saying to get a 13.5K unit. The " smaller"  7.5K units weight only 10 pounds less that their larger brothers.
IMHO I d get the Carrier unit. Slinger wheel does away with most if not all of the roof top condensations runoff and no " brace"  is needed to keep the cover reom cracking.
However expect some additional cost as the Taos roof is the only one in the destiny line " not AC ready"  and there also might be some additional expense in wiring as I m not sure if it comes with the 20 amp plug wired off the converter.

TaoscopGo with a Carrier AirV unit. Much mor features than a Coleman. I found it onling for $500 and free shipping.

TaoscopI will also vote for the Carrier Air V.  I paid $550 for the unit with the heat option (you can not add heat strips later like the Coleman) and I am glad I got the heat.  It was $50 more than with out heat and it takes the chill off of the air and helps circulate the heated air that raises to the ceiling.  The dealer did the instillation for $200 for a total of $750 installed.  They also make a heat pump model, that I didn t know about when I bought mine last year.  I don t know how much that unit is.  Other cool options on the  Carrier are the air shower and oscillating vents.
