I m in an organizing mood!  Finally got around to buying some of these air sucking space bags.  Bagged up sweatshirts and sweaters and jackets and comforters in the house.  Now I m starting on the PU.  Blankets, sleeping bags, sheets and towels, throw rugs.  Hoping this will save some space in the little wee Jayco!

wssfetchProblem was with the originals was what the heck do you do with the stuff after you ve opened them? If you pack tight then open up a few of them to get stuff there s no plae to put all thestuff unless you bring a vacuum cleaner with you.

The newer rollup ones are really nice though. They simply need to be rolled to get the air out.
Just don t believe their claims about how down products like sleeping bags and coats, come back to original after being stored in a space bag for a while. Seen a couple of ruined down products using them.

wssfetchClick [link=http://www.myspacebag.com/corp/about.htm]HERE[/link] for the company that manufactures them and [link=http://www.fontayne.com/spacebagcolemanrelease.pdf]HERE[/link] to see the press release for the new " Coleman"  ones which don t need a vacuum. They were advertised on TV a few weeks ago & would sure save us space with pillows, blankets and sleeping bags.

You can purchase them from [link=http://www.spacebag.com]SPACEBAGS[/link].

wssfetchwe been using them for a couple years , no problem, our sleeping bage went down to a 1/4 of it s size same with the blankets, i just fluff them back into shape , u can put them in a cool dryer for 10minute, if you want the down stuff real fluffy. most camp grounds have them. I carry a hand held vaccuum with us, so its e-z to suck it back into the bags, and i spray ferbreeze on them a few minutes before and when you take them out they have a fresh smell, pillows too!

wssfetchI ve only used space bags at home and I ve only used the roll-up ones.  The bigger the bag (on these), the harder is is to get the air out.  It was great to get a blanket and some pillows in one of the bags, but then I couldn t roll it enough to get the air out.  It was even too big to sit on and get the air out all the way.

I have found that the Jumbo zip-lock bags are REALLY handy for smaller things.  They are bigger than the gallon size.  I have a friend that puts one outfit per bag, sits on the bag to get the air out and zips it shut.  Makes packing easier.  Takes up less space and keeps things dry.  My brother packed a TON of sweaters and such like that on his move to France (when you are limited on the number of peices of luggage).  Worked great.  Since we got the Hybrid though, I haven t really had a need for space bags in the camper.  Maybe for winter storage of blankets and such.

 Man, I LOVE gadgets!  [:D]

wssfetchi have spent over 50 bucks on space bags and only ones that ever workede where the little ones you get free that you roll...they are totally worthless...will investigate the new colmans.

 wssfetchheck...same thing.

as for vacum...i have a small shop vac i keep in the camper incase of a need for massive cleanup of water or dirt...so vacuming is not a problem....the bags work once and then never work again....
