The Eagle and the Hawk

Since we started pop-up camping the begining of last season, I have often wondered when setting up the camper if a site exists that is perfectly level.

Well, this weekend I found one.  Now by level, I mean that no side to side leveling is required.  And the site we were at this weekend was right on the money, " bubble exactly between the lines"  level.  It was a first for us.

Anyone else out there ever set up at a " no leveling required"  site?

The Eagle and the HawkLot s of times on " improved"  sites where they ve either graded and graveled or paved. A couple of times on unimproved " primative"  sites.
But then again we had to ask for a different site one time on a paved site. Need 6-7 inches of lift to get the Pu level and that was more than we were comfortable with seeing as how it was the door side and my ex DW was short and couldn t get in the trailer.

That sounds like Custer State Park in South Dakota, I pulled 3 sites before I found one close. Then had to build " steps"  from lynx levelers. [:@]

The Eagle and the HawkSo far that has happened to us only one time and that was at Fort Parker State Park in Texas.  It was a beautiful little park and the pad was perfect.  We ve had some that were " near"  level and some that were waaaay off, but by far most have been tolerable.  Guess that s part of the joy of camping...

The Eagle and the HawkWe have camped at a few " level"  lots.  The Gettysburg Capmground [link]http://www.gettysburgcampground.com/[/link]has almost all level lots.  Only issue is when it rains I ve found water stays on the site too long.  Oh well....I guess there are good points and bad points to many things [;)]

The Eagle and the HawkWe have had that at Assateague Island National Seashore several times.  The sites are paved and we have hit the button several times.

The Eagle and the HawkI think that we ve found a level unpaved site once in the last couple of years.About 1/2 of the paved sites have been flat enough to get away without using our BAL leveler.

The Eagle and the HawkI ll bet this has a lot more to do with where you camp than anything else.  I d be surprised if less than 85% of the sites in places like Florida or Kansas were level.  But in the Rockies, or the White Mountains of New Hampshire, 85% of them are not level.

We have camped in more than 50 campgrounds in 25 states and have had level sites (less than one inch, or no need for Lynx) about 25% of the time.

I ve never felt that one inch was a necessary fix either.  OTOH, we ve never needed more than 3 inches (3 Lynx) and have used three probably only 3-4 times.

The Eagle and the HawkOn our first trip last year (and our first trip together as married couple), we were all packed and happy, and ready to use our Lynx levelers. But the site was level. Oh well.

And since then, not a single site has been level. We have even been back to the same site, and I think we used Lynxes then. Must have just found that spot.
