Cedar Creek Hill Park is really close to our home.  Has anyone ever camped there? It looks like it might be fun for a quick weekend getaway.

mikewilleyWe haven t camped there but MANY do on the weekends.  Have been out there a number of times and even though the park is very large and nice, we find it to be more crowded and just too " busy"  for our liking.  I believe that it s proximity to Dallas tends to cause it to draw a bit rowdier crowd then we like.  Don t believe it s as bad in the late fall and winter time but still...  For my time and money,  I would prefer to go to either of the SP s on Ray Roberts with a slight preference to the Isle de Bois Unit.

 Wishing you happy camping!

mikewilleyWe went with the group early in the season and it was already busy - several cars/trucks going way too fast past the campsite.  I suspect it will be very buggy unless they have started mowing larger areas around the sites.
 Not one of my favorites.

mikewilleyFor a quick weekend getaway, it will work just fine. It is very large and has very nice restrooms.  Good hiking/mountain bike trails too.  It is, however, usually pretty busy and does attract a lot of people who don t really hold to camping ettiquette.  However, there is an equal amount of people there who do.

If you re just looking for a quick weekend retreat, it ll be fine. Chose the LEFT side of the park as the right side is close to the highway and you can hear cars there day in and out.

Another option would also be Cleburne State Park. It s not much further of a drive and it s quiet, clean, and has great sites.

Isle Du Bois is nice too, but it reminded me a lot of Cedar Hill just without the ruffians.

 Good luck!

 Jen,

That s why I suggested it.  If you like what s good about Cedar Hill, you should like Isle Du Bois.

 Have a great weekend!
