On our  03 Cheyenne the door latch has broken for the second time.  THis time the black part that moves in and out as you move the handle or push the button seemed to hyper extend itself.  THe black piece came out way too far and a little piece of small spring stuck out under the black piece.
Has anyone had problems with their door latch  or are we just unlucky ?
How hard is it to change the door handle assembly ?
Since the dealer is a long drive, I would like to have them send me the parts and I ll install myself.  For now I have forced the black part back in and keep the door bungeed when the one year old is inside.
 Thanks

farmerTake the 2 screws out on the inside, and the latch falls out.

 farmerThanks for the info Gary.
I thought it looked simple but I admit to being mechanically challenged(although not as inept as my wife thinks).

farmerThe only problem people seem to have with my latch is that you have to pull on the handle, in order to push the handle in, to open the door.  Did I just confuse you?

farmerJust had the same door latch break on mine last night. Very cheaply made part. In my case, the little handle that extends from the right side of the outside handle just snapped, leaving a sharp edge.

Got a regular screen door latch from Lowe s, but it protrudes about twice as far on the outside of the door, thus rubs the ceiling when the door is stowed. That s going to leave a mark, so it won t work. Also, I d have to use the old inside piece with it because the regular screen door units have the inside latch set back to handle a thicker door frame. Oh well. Looks like we re going to the dealer today.

LOL, This has been kicking my wife s a** for 3 years.... FINALLY she got it figured out. I even put a piece of pull rope on it, so she could pull it and release the tension. Couldn t run that either. So she would just hit it.[:@]

I tell the kids to just push the black thing in to open the door, if they can t open the door the other way.

 farmerFolks
Talked to shop at the dealer yesterday and they said to bring in the broken door latch and they would give me a new one under warranty.[:)]  I am glad they will let me bring in just the broken part instead of the whole PU.  I figured that with warrranty work that they would want me to  tow in the PU, which I don t have time for now.
