Hi. I would like some advice. I m considering purchasing either the Reese Mini 350 WD/Sway control, or the EAZ Lift sway control (stand alone unit, no WD function).

This is after a particularly scary incident of sway, mostly due to my poor loading, and trying to carry a full 20 gallon water tank. Now, I don t want to experience that degree of sway... ever. I have of course learned my lesson about the loading, and the water tank, but, I want to add a degree of safety.

Also to be noted is that prior to this incident, in previous outings, my setup felt quite stable, even in wind, with no noticeable sway up to 65- or 70 mph, even though I normally do keep the speed down to 60 - 62 mph or so.

 My current setup is:

Tow Vehicle:  96 SLX (same vehicle as the Isuzu Trooper). Tow rated for 5000 lbs.

 Trailer: 2001 Coleman Bayside.

There is no major sag, and the trailer is very close to level when hitched up.

I was quoted a price of $307 for a Reese Mini 400. (I have never even heard of this model), and $37.50 to install.

I was quoted a price of $185 for the EAZ-Lift Sway control.

Questions: Do you think I need the weight distributing function? How hard is it to self install the Mini 350? Is anyone familiar with a Reese Mini 400? Is the stand alone sway control good enough?

Money is a little bit of an object here, but my primary concern is to make sure I don t have to worry about sway.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Steve-o-budWell if you don t have sag (the trailer can be level but the TV s rear end can be sagging when hooked up)and your TV s manual doesn t require WD why buy it?

As for sway control. The WD400 doesn t have it. The MiniWD350 does. If you look at the tongue on your Bayside you might find little holes lug with plastic caps. These were provided at the factory for mounting a Reese friction sway control to the tongue. Those holes along with the sway control adapter plate #26003 to mount the front ball without welding, makes insallation a 1 hour DIY project and should cost apx $110 total. At worst without the holes you get a template with the sway control and it means drillin 6 holes in the tongue.

Steve-o-budI use the reese 400 and it works very good I installed it myself and it took
about 45min maybe less its very easy.
I also use the friction sway control, that also works great.
 Good Luck
