DanusmomOh, that makes more sense, AustinB.  Between your input, the book on traveling through the eastern mountains, & re-reading Dave s article on " Stop...if you can"  I should be in real good shape for towing next month once DH finishes all the hook-ups & needed modifications.

Thanks, again, for all the input.

 Peace be with you all.

DanusmomTo everyone that has stated " I don t need trailer brakes"  keep this in mind.

The average TV takes 160 feet from 60 mph to come to a dead stop using maximum braking.
The same TV with a one ton (2000) pound trailer without brakes takes an average of 240 feet to come to a dead stop using maximum braking.

Sure the combination stops with out trailer brakes but that extra 80 feet can make the difference between " wheew, that was close!"  and " SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!!!!"

And to those who also say: " I ve never had a problem without trailer brakes" . It only takes once to make you wish you d had them and then it s to late.

Thanks, mike4947!  This is what I remember from my physics classes.  I wish the drivers of SUV s would take these related physics classes.  Especially the teenage thru mid-20 s SUV drivers.  They should be required to take a particularly graphic physics class.  Maybe then they will stop tailgating.  One could only hope.

 Peace be with you all.
