Well we weathered the full brunt of Hurricane Claudette and by the grace of God everyone is OK! [:D]
We were one of the lucky ones in that the only damage was broken tree limbs, one missing shingle on the roof, the destruction of our gate and two sides of our wooden privacy fence. Others had it much worse. Some had whole trees fall on their house or they lost their roof and household belongings. Two people died.[:(] It looked like a war zone around here.
I was worried about our litttle PU. I took all the precautions I could by taping the edges of the doors, taping outside vents with plastic(it rains sideways in a hurricane), making sure the front trunk and camper roof had locks on them, strapping over the A/C hood, and lowering the tongue to angle down into the wind. Since we keep our PU in a storage facility with an electronic gate, I was unable to check on her for four days- no electricity to open gate. FTM, we had to endure 4 days without electricity in 93 degree heat and 85% humidity and no breeze! It was miserable! Had to use my coleman stove to cook. (All electric house)
The good news is our little PU is just fine! [:)] She survived like a champ! No leaks! The fence behind her is gone but no damage. I must say I was  little worried about the large fifth wheels close by on each side. I prayed one would not fall over on her.
If you have never been through a hurricane, it is an awesome scary experience! This one was not supposed to be very bad (it was!) and it was supposed to hit us late in the day (it came in fast at noon and caught many people off guard and unprepared!) You can t second guess mother nature. I have been through several of these in my life so I was as prepared as I could be, but I felt sorry for those who weren t and didn t know better.
Anyway, life for most is slowly getting back on track as people readjust. I am thankful for my blessings!

StarryartI am glad to hear you made out ok.  You now have a good story to tell everyone around the campfire.   No electricity can be a big PITA.

StarryartSo glad to hear that the family, the house, and the PU all made it safely through the storms.  I thought about all our PUT friends and hoped everyone made it safely through the storm. I have been through a pretty scary hurricane in Hawaii years ago!   Not a fun thing to do!

Happy to hear all is well!!

StarryartThanks guys for your concern! It is nice to know folks care. [:)]
It was amazing how people in town pulled together to help each other. After the storm, neighbors who have never spoken, met and gathered together to plan the cleanup and BBQ on their gas grills (no restaurants were working and no electric to cook with). Human nature is a funny thing indeed!
